Someone on the Lead Adventures forum posted this link. It's a great mix of real and not real. The man's model work is awesome.

Poking through his site led me to google up some other discoveries I'd not seen (or seen very little about)

The Alligator Submarine

And the Ictineo, the first true sub. It used chemical reaction to provide steam power and generate oxygen. The 2nd version was even fitted with an underwater cannon. That's what I want for a game!
