Ok. So my interest in Star Wars has been renewed (did ever go away? I doubt it) and I'd like to pick up some novels to read.

The last books I read were, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and Splinter Of The Minds Eye.

I've got some catching up to do…

Any checklists or such that anyone can recommend?

And obviously in my title it should be LISTING not LISITNG..

(where's a message editor when you need it…)

Definitely read the Thrawn trilogy next. It's a few years after RotJ and a good read.

I liked the Rogue Squadron series (lot's of stuff sploads).

I suppose there might be something missing from link but it would be a good list to start with.

I found the ones by Kevin J Anderson to be insufferable… his force detecting pingpong bat was an unbelievably dull experience… but the Thrawn ones are good…

Truce at Bakara is set right after Jedi. It's a good start. I'll second the Rogue Squadron series (2 sets of 4 plus a ninth novel) they are very good. The only books I've not got into are the new lot – the New Jedi Order ones – after the new alien race appear in the glaxy to give everyone a kicking – as there's so many I don't know where to start!

Others that are good are the Thrawn series as noted, the 3 books of short stories are good – Tales from Jabbas Palace, Tales from the Empire, Tales of/from The Bounty Hunter. (think I got the titles right)

The 3 Boba Fett books are pretty good too.

The 3 Boba Fett books are pretty good too.

Note – listed as the Bounty Hunter series – I didn't realise there were more!

I thought there were a lot more New Jedi Order books?

I would recommend Truce at Bakura first, then definitely the Thrawn trilogy, and the X-wing series books next (all 9 of them covering Wedge Antilles and the exploits of Rogue+Wraith Squadrons.)

DO NOT BOTHER with any of the Kevin J.Anderson ones--utter garbage IMHO.

Thanks for all your input guys.

Much appreciated.

I stopped at Chapters today to have a look and was amazed at how many books there are now. I have a lot of catching up to do.

I really enjoyed the Thrawn series and pulled several scenarios from in for games using the WofC Star Wars Miniatures.

I thought that the book with Xizor, "Hand of Empire" was OK.

I'll have to read some of these on the list.

What's the new one in hard cover called, about Han and Leia's son Jacin whose evil and stuff? I saw it in Wally World. Is it any good? After Splinter/Mind's Eye which was ok, I read 2 more books that where sooo bad I cant remember the titles. I bought "Enders Game" instead and loved it. Surprised someone ordering stock at Wally World actually put out some cool books. Usually it is Bible thumping stuff or "Chicken Soup for the Soul" drivel…..
