I remember V. I never watched much of the actual series itself, but rather enjoyed the original miniseries.

wow, i used to love the crap out of that show as a kid.

The book has been out for a little while now. After a bunch of ups and downs, I wonder what the current status is of this.

That show went over real well in Japan. I remember seeing all the vid tapes in the rentals shops over there. And yes, I watched it when it was on tv here too.

I liked the fact they wrapped it up…

I can still remember the resistance fighter in the TV movie at the end pouring the viral dust into the mouth of the Visitor gestapo head and leaving him to convulse to death on the steps of Visitor HQs!

I loved that show…

Remember the hot evil Brunette visitor'a jaw unhinging when she swallowed a rat whole?

Now THAT's a woman! Or a lizard.. whatever she was she was hot.

I loved it when on TV here in the UK, it was IIRC first shown in 1984 during the Olympics.

Although I liked it I fell out seriously with my sister because she had taped V over my D Day compilation (it was the 40th anniversary and I had sat all times of day and night recording snippets and programmes about it :0(

she is almost forgiven now

I remember that it had quite a lot of references / allegories to the Holocaust in it. At least in the beginning (mini series). I´m not sure if they kept that up later on.

(BTW I found it amusing that the actress who played the brunette alien recently turned up in Boston Legal as an old love interest of Danny Crane. It seems that Shatner not only bedded all beautiful aliens in STOS but also those from other SF-TV series :-) )

The Gray Ghost19 Jan 2008 5:57 a.m. PST

That was I neat show with lots of gameing possablities.

Well, yes. :)

The hot, evil brunette was Jane Badler. The blond was June Chadwick.

Now THAT's a Prime Directive we can all endorse.

KnightTemplarr19 Jan 2008 10:03 a.m. PST

The Blonde resistance leader was Faye Grant.

It was a very cool show and I have the movies on DVD :)

They were here to steal water…

That idiocy spoiled it for me completely.

But maybe they were the sword enemy of the aliens we encounter in Signs. They wanted the water so they could fill squirt guns and go war … : )

I loved V – got the DVD's and the following 19? episode series on video (can't find DVD's of that in the UK). Great gaming potential I've been looking at for some time. Anyone remember in the 2nd series, the prison camp that hand creatures under the sand patrolling it – shades of Tremors. Would be nice in the new series if the 'ally' was the visitor's enemy/ies hinted at in one episode where the resistance try to send a signal out into space to contact them.

"They were here to steal water…"

And to use us as food, if I recall correctly.

Yeah, they were here to eat us. Also, it was against their laws to eat sentient beings, so the whole invasion force was in for it. As I recall, someone called in the crown prince of their species to get things straightened out. Diana attempted to assassinate him by blowing up his shuttle, but he was a wise lizard and the first shuttle was a dummy. His shuttle then landed at the reception, he stepped out of it and said something along the lines of "Hello, Diana." and the show didn't continue.

I hear tell that scifi channel is linig up some of the original cast for another miniseries. I used to like the show, watched the dvds, it really went downhill after the first half of the series! Might be worth a shot, look what scifi did with galactica!

Chortle Fezian19 Jan 2008 9:58 p.m. PST

Wasn't there a scene with a human girl being seduced by an alien male as part of a cross breeding experiment? I seem to remember Diana was watching the whole thing on a monitor. Very kinky stuff!

RabidFox20 Jan 2008 9:16 p.m. PST

None of the ladies brought up Marc Singer of Beastmaster fame as the leading male hunk reporter.
Or are there no ladies among us?

Old Slow Trot22 Jan 2008 8:19 a.m. PST

Yep,Chortle. The alien-human hybrid bacame a teenager in the series, and seemed to have certain paranormal abilities. Willie's(Robert Englund) malaprops got me laughing some. Fine bit of comic relief.
