Can anybody direct me to a website that gives information about Soviet Naval infantry in WW2 organization
Did they use normal Soviet army organization or something different..?? |

This is gleaned from knowledgable folks on the Test of Battle forum: Batalion organization was normal, although because of supply and production problems units in beseiged cities like Odessa might be light on heavy weapons, although heavier on light machine guns. Battalions were grouped into brigades, with attached light artillery, mostly heavy mortars. Even in the Red Army, it was quite normal for elements of the TOE to be "missing" for protracted periods. This would be exagerated in the Fleet, especially in the more desperate areas; for obvious reasons, naval infantry tended to be used where there were not good land based communications. |

Hi Arch! (Or are you the guy NEXT to Arch Stanton?) What specifically are you looking for? I have books that detail the orgs (which varied quite a lot due to circumstances), so I can post/send you whatever info you want, but would rather not push copyright laws by posting entire chapters here. :-) Tom |

Hi, i am looking mostly for platoon-company at most battalion level organisations
I know most Soviet naval units were sort of ad-hoc but was wondering if they used the same squad-platoon organisation as the normal army? I know they used a smaller mortar (45mm I think) but what else was different? Cheers |

According to Glantz, The initial Naval Infantry Brigades were ad-hoc and varied widely in organization. In Fall '41 they were converted to a standard rifle brigade organization. in Oct '41, the Navy formed Naval Rifle Brigades whose organization was "nearly identical" to the standard rifle brigade. Accordingly, I'd follow the standard infantry organization except before fall '41. At that time anything goes
