I am assuming the items in the timeline cannot be changed, but can be interpreted in different points of view. This is a fun game. Not quite Global Thermonuclear War, but fun in and of itself.

I can see General Parham as being a retired General, maybe recently before the last election, who was put on the ticket to garner support of the military vote, among others maybe. He would still retain the title "General", and would also have the title "Mr. Vice President". I am fuzzy on the details of how he would be addressed in that capacity; maybe Mr. Vice President General Parham at social functions. His name on the ticket might have helped the party get the Hawks votes and maybe the hardline Rightwing.

I like the People's Republic of Alaska, it gives the NAC and ESU one more thing to be cranky with each other about.

Can we have a short-lived seccession movement in upstate New York following the Parham declaration? I assure you, significant chunks of our populace would welcome Canadian rule, as long as NYC gets left behind.

I love the name "Various State Factions" = VSF. Could this be another player not meantioned on the timeline, which did not gain enough power, in the long run, to be included in the official timeline.

I was wondering about Alaska and the Northwestern States also. Was Canada about to put together any expeditions into those areas? Did those areas remain relatively stable during the dark times around 2050?

In 2006 the population of Alaska was 670,000. Maybe their state legislature was able to continue on in absence of the demise of the United States. They have resources, and that's not really very many people to administrate.

I couldn't find Alaska in the timeline, so I guess their entire history is open for speculation.

Britain withdraws from the EC following the Spanish invasion of Gibraltar and EC refusal to take military or economic action.

Nicholas III crowned Czar in St Petersburg as the Romanovs return to Russia.

Australian/New Zealand forces liberate French occupied New Caledonia. The EC threatens military retaliation. Both Britain and the USA offer military support to their antipodean relatives. The EC backs off.

2023

Creation of the EC sponsored Economic Union of African Republics (EUAR) in Central and Southern Africa. Arab African countries remain outside of the Union.

2027

Destruction of the State of Israel by Islamic nuclear and bio-chemical terrorist action.

Saudi Arabia annexes the Gulf States and launches an invasion of Yemen and Iraq.

Egypt declares solidarity with the Saudis and attacks Libya.

The Gilderstein Foundation purchases an island off the Philippines, and with technical/financial support from Japan embarks on its research programme into FTL travel.

Sikh fundamentalists detonate a small nuclear device in Delhi razing most of the city. The Indian Government retaliates by destroying Amritsar and massacring the entire population.

Indonesia invades and conquers Malaysia.

The EUAR follows the example of the EC and becomes a federal super-state – the Pan-African Union (PAU).

The House of Saud completes its suppression of its fellow Arab states and creates the Islamic Federation.

Borneo is overrun by Indonesian forces.

Heavy fighting on the Sino-Siberian border as the Beijing Government presses long redundant border claims against a financially and politically bankrupt Russia.

South Korea falls to a lightning strike by North Korea and China. US forces are abandoned to their fate, increasing the resentment of the US Military towards the civilian branch, limited numbers are rescued by a Canadian/UK naval task force, including General Parham.

President Amy Koslowski is surprisingly re-elected for a second term, several political leaders declare that her re-election is fraudulent and demand recounts of the election results. Koslowski orders the arrest of the leaders sparking violent protest across america, Koslowski declares martial law across america calling for calm.

Congress cuts all funding for the US Military in an attempt to reign in Koslowski, the president responds by ordering all US forces abroad to withdraw back to US shores. General Parham spends the next year fighting rearguard actions across the world as US troops are withdrawn with British/Canadian aid. The UK becomes the main base for US troops abroad as they are withdrawn. In effect these units are loaned to the UK/Canadian Goverments during the funding crisis. The british press dubs Parhams troops the King's American Legion as these forces are reformed and refitted with british equipment. Koslowski also sells the majority of the Atlantic Fleet to the UK/Canadian goverments, transfering the naval personnel back stateside.

2047

A Beijing sponsored coup in Moscow results in the return of Communist government to Russia and several of the Commonwealth Republics. The Czar and a sizeable military force flee to the Ukraine, who along with Byelorussia and the Baltic States remain free of the Communist shackle, as the EC intimates to Beijing that further Communist expansion West will not be tolerated, whatever the cost. The Communist states then create the Eurasian Union. The remaining Commonwealth States create the Romanov Hegemony, realising that divided they will be picked off by the Eurasian Union in time.

Internal turmoil continue to grow as many of the states withdraw their political leaders, as Koslowski begins to govern effectively by decree, the National Guard is reinforced by Regular Army units on the america streets. General Parham is appointed by Koslowski as her VP (althrough since Parham is abroad he cannot be confirmed by congress).

2049

Texas National Guard units seize several nuclear silo sites as Texas declares its independance, the US Army is tasked with immediately retaking the silos and a bloody attempt is made.

The US economy collapses, followed by the Federal Government as President Amy Koslowski is assassinated in the bombing of the White House. General Parham declares the creation of a military government. Many states ignore the military proclamation, violently opposing the armed forces attempts to assume control.

Linking up with Koslowski loyalists, Parham returns to the US seizing the eastern seaboard. Huges amounts of aid are then despatched into this area by the UK/Canadian Governments. The UK/Canadian military buildup begins on the US northern border.

2050

UK/Canadian forces conduct cross border raids on Nuclear Silos and other high value targets.

Parham requests UN military involvement to restore order in the US. The request is refused. The military government turns towards Britain and Canada for help. The "Pacification" of the former USA begins.

The Newly independent states begin to clash over resources and soon large areas of the US are locked in open warfare.

The US inspired Organisation of American States collapses and is replaced by the Brazilian/Argentinian dominated League of Latin American Republics. The LLAR intimates that it will use force to recover territories occupied by "Colonial Powers". Britain advises that it will use any weapons in its arsenal to protect its subjects in the Falkland Islands. The LLAR backs down.

The Pacific Fleet searching for a home port, settles on the Hawaiian Free State.

The Philippines are conquered by Indonesia and assimilated into the new Indonesian Commonwealth. Japanese naval units act to protect the Gilderstein Foundation's installation from Indonesian aggression.

In response to the growing Indonesian threat, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and a number of South Sea Island states create the Oceanic Union.

2051

The Texas Republic seizes California, New Mexico and Arizona with LLAR support.

The People's Republic of Alaska is formed with Chinese Support, UK/Canadian forces move into Alaska immediately to combat communist expansion into america.

The Eurasian Union crosses the Himalayas and invades the Indian sub-continent.

2053

Allied Forces begin the push westward, clashing with state forces, private militias and local insurgents as they do so.

The Indonesian Commonwealth invades and conquers Burma and Thailand.

2054

Hawaiian Free State agrees to sell half of the Hawaiian Home Fleet to Japan and the other half to LLAR and then declares itself a netural in the conflict. Allied forces begin arriving with little resistance.

Allied Forces reach the borders of the Texas Republic (the Most organised of the State Forces).

The remainder of Indo-China falls to the forces of the Indonesian Commonwealth.

2055

Operation Roundhammer begins, the Allied forces launch a massive armoured force into the Republic, smashing the Texas forces and driving the remaining forces over the southern border.

2057

Britain, Canada and the United States unite under the Crown and create the Anglian Confederation. Admiral Dewsbury is appointed Lord Governor of the territory previously known as the United States of America.

Sir Henry Parham, General (Retired) is elected first Prime Minister of the AC in a landside victory.

In the confusion of the end of the 2nd Civil War, the LLAR declares that the AC has no mandate to rule over the ex-Hispano-US peoples and decrees California, New Mexico and Texas as LLAR territory under foreign occupation and launches an invasion of these areas. The fifteen year War of the Americas starts.

2059

Mexico and much of Central America falls to AC forces.

The Gilderstein Foundation's L5 Lab disappears from orbit.

2062

AC forces invade Colombia.

The Foundation reveals the true nature of the disappearance of the L5 Lab.

The Islamic Federation and PAU clash in North-East Africa over water rights. The EC sponsor a peace initiative backed by a threat of force.

Stalemate in the fighting along the Peru-Brazil front, as AC forces outrun their supply lines.

The first trans-solar probe is launched to (and returns from) Barnard's Star.

AC continues to pacify Central America while building up South American forces.

The Gilderstein Foundation sends the first manned FTL mission out of the Solar System.

LLAR forces launch a massive counter attack, pushing AC forces back to Colombia.

Both the Anglian Confederation and the EC launch FTL craft and begin the colonisation of space.

LLAR counterattack collapses and AC forces retake the lost territory and begin the advance into Argentina and Brazil.

With help from the EC, the Islamic Federation, the PAU and the Romanov Hegemony all launch FTL craft.

If Parham were referred to as "Mr. Vice President General…" it would be a first. Eisenhower resigned his commission when he ran for political office. He learned well from Washington.

Well something has to happen to the LLAR half of the fleet after the war, assuming the crews are hard line Republicans determined to stay outside of AC control after the war, maybe they go mercenary after the ceasefire.

Oh, and you have President Koslowski "surprisingly re-elected" in 2046, but no mention of her original election in, presumably, 2042, or why her re-election was surprising?

I assume that that there were US forces in South Korea when it fell and these forces were abandoned, making it hard for her to win a second term (probably not a very popular event).

Also I need a reason for the US Government collapse, so Koslowski's assassination is the final straw (by this stage she pretty much is the US Goverment).

I'm not sure about Koslowski, i'm hinting with the "surprisingly re-elected" that there might have been some fraud involved in her re-election (when is there no fraud in elections?). I'm assuming that there is already a breakdown of the US economy/culture when Koslowski elected and she's trying to hold it together and failing…she turns the Parham (who is total ed off with the civilian government by this point) and then things finally spiral out of control.

Also the timeline doesn't state who bombed the White House.

Simply the fact that the economy is collapsing is enough to make her re-election surprising. A second Wall Street Crash (or whatever) would be more than enough to deny most presidents a second term, whether they were responsible or not.

If Parham's career military (which is almost a given) he should be furious. Pulling the armed forces back to the US en masse and putting them on population control duties is bad enough…and apparently half the Navy's been sold off to boot? Lunacy!

Doesn't need to, since leaving it as an unknown opens up more possibilities. Given the way things worked out in the long run, my guess is the most popular 22nd century conspiracy theory blames a black ops team from House of Windsor. :)

I been thinking that i've been missing something on equipment for the 2nd ACW, China as well as supporting the People's Republic of Alaska would undoubtedly be shipping over stockpiles of obsolete equipment through the Republic of Texas to the Insurgent groups (which would have probably replaced the state forces within a few years). The Hawaiian Free States Navy (the Pacific Fleet) could be used to escort the chinese ships, with probably very little the Allies could do about it.

Plausible. Maybe have a (pardon the pun) royally ticked-off AC use their space assets to bust up a convoy in the mid-Pacific with ortillery, leading to general condemnation by the rest of the world powers and setting the ball in motion for the UNSC eventual "no space combat at Sol" mandate? Something must have triggered the "let's give the UN teeth" movement originally, right?

I have visions of Mel Gibson's kids producing anti-NAC propoganda films in Mexican studios…and then in Argentina…and then on whatever colony worlds the LLAR moves to… :)

Not a bad idea that, the AC would have real trouble getting naval assets onto the Pacific coast (no panama or suez canals in all probabilty) so reinforcement would have to be sent from the atlantic fleet the long way round and would have to sail through hostile forces to reach the area. The Air Force would be one way to attack the convoys of course, but air raids into the teeth of modern air defences would be bloody expensive. Which brings use to ortillery, it would also explain the friction between the AC and the Chinese earlier than when they begin to clash about colony worlds.

Maybe an accidental weapon firing that just happens to target a Chinese merchant fleet leaving port. "Frightfully sorry about that old chap, must have spilled me port, don't you know".

I'm playing Call of Duty 4 at the moment, which just happens to include a joint british/american special forces attack on a missile silo base….it's kind of similar as to what I was thinking of as a scenario for some of my skirmishes.
