I'm looking into building a 300+ figure
German army for 1916-1918,
who has the best deal dollar wise?
I guess shipping to the States may be
a factor as well.

I would take a hard look at Old Glory's 15mm WWII stuff. The difference between early war Berman uniforms in WWII and Late war German uniforms WWI are pretty much not there in 15mm.

Old Glory comes about 50 figs to a bag and if you join their promotional deal ($50.00) you get 40% off.

These figures are not as nice as Peter Pig but . . . if you want to do this as inexpensively as possible, you may want to consider this approach.

If you do go the rout of using early war WWII infantry from old glory I suggest you check out warweb.com as they are always having a 40% off sale on command decision stuff. Your looking at $8.40 USD for a bag of 50 so your only gonna end up spending about $50 USD plus a flat rate of $6 USD shipping.

Gee, I hope my eye sight never goes so bad that I can happily use WWII early Germans as WWI infantry.

Even if you have to read Braille, you should be able to feel the lugs on the M1916 stahlhelm…

Risking committing the TMP sin of answering a question with a completely unrelated comment, are you committed to 15mm?

If not, might I humbly suggest 1/72 scale plastics for late war WW1? Between Emhar, Revell, and Hat, you are completely covered for infantry and support weapons. Pretty darn cheap, too.

If you are, the only problem I see with using early war WW2 Germans and Brits is that you will probably have to get Maxim gun teams and Lewis gunners from Peter Pig.

Hey Patrick,
Yeah pretty commited to 15mm
I already have a 15mm French army
that I recently dug up.
