The Case of the Malevolent Mummy game was run to great acclaim on Friday night at the HMGS-South show in Orlando. Everyone that played had a grat time, as did Chip Coffey and myself (two of the judges). This was our most ambtitious sceanerio to date. We had two 5x8 ft tables reunning at the same time. One table was the lost city of Hamunaptra (the City of the Dead) and the other was the city of Cairo. We had 15 players, each with their own objectives. The sides were: 1. Indiana Jones and company 2. Rick O'Connell and Evelyn Carnahan 3. The Mummy (of course) 4. The Africa Corps 5. The Ahnenerbe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahnenerbe) 6. The Medjai 7. Athena Voltaire (www.athenavoltaire.com) 8. The Cult of the Pharoah Reborn 9. The Royal Cairo Metropolitan Police (the RCMP) 10. Doc Savage and the Fab Five 11. The Knights of the the Silver Crescent 12. The Crew of the S.S. Persephone (merchant Ship) 13. The Crew of U-571 14. Sgt Markoff and the Geste Brothers of the Foreign Legion The game had a plane crash in the middle of the Nile, Zombies diggers, flesh eating bugs, shocking betrayals, burined treasure, mummies, a poo-flining monkey, cultisis in a rowboat, the mummy trying to steal a submarine, exploding trucks, cat tossing, and other general mayhem. The Cario terrain is mix of Crescent Root Studios and Miniature Building Authority Buildings. The Hamunaptra set was bult mostly with Hirst Arts blocks. I have pictures in the "Case of the Malevolent Mummy" folder on my PBase account. pbase.com/alex757 Enjoy |

Wow, yes! Looks awesome indeed!!! Who makes the dead guys pictured in picture #26 (in blue 'hats')? Thanks in advance

Awesome! What rules did you use? Who makes the truck in picture 65, please? |

Very nicely done! I am totally impressed. I imagine the game was a MASSIVE hit! Thanks, John |

The rules were a blend of Rugged Adventures (from Pulp Figures) and To be Continued
(from Gaslight). The blue and red headed dead guys came from Eureka. The truck is a die cast from Die Cast Direct. I don't know the manufacturer, but I did a search for "opel" on their site a couple of years ago and they came up. I tried to order some more recently and could not find them again. |

We had 15 players
15 players, 14 sides? |
Photonred | 01 Oct 2007 6:14 a.m. PST |
15 players, 14 sides NP several of the sides have multiple characters easy enough to team two people together! |

Thanks. It looks like it was a load of fun! |

It rocked so hard!!!! I was the Medjai (Magi? SP?) leader (that guy in the movie) and had a blast. My moment of glory was forming a mounted line across the road, then rammed by an Opel Blitz, which promptly stopped and rolled over, and those Afrika Korps were easy pickings (especially after I was reminded that I had dynamite :) Recovering the canopic jars, I of course found weeman in the middle of the desert and we all flew to Cairo, where my main squeeze (Annie Oakley), gave the book of the Dead to the Nazi U-Boat commander in exchange for a Kubelwagon that had flat tires!!! :) The GM's (All of them) were fantastic, keeping a whole bunch of players in constant action (like an adventure movie or something :) ). The terrain, both tables, was in a class by itself! I will definately be on the lookout for another game guys. Recon and Rapier '08 for sure!!
THANKS!!

BTW, when they dug up Imhotep, the beetles came out like in the movie (hundreds of 'em at least!) |

The after game briefing session couldn't have been funnier if it was scripted. |

It looked real good when I saw it at the convention. I think I'm going to modify some of my stucco buildings to show some brick. Those Jax Garrison boys sure set a pretty table, though. Martha Stewart would be proud. Unfortunately, nobody that I play with down here has that pathological love of all things pulp as those guys do. M.Phil |

Thanks for all the kind words, all. Jim and I couldn't have done it without a great group of players and the help of John Murk and Joe Caso, who also helped us GM. Jim and I have discussed it and we have decided to do a number of Pulp games for Recon. What we have planned: Tarzan and the Lost City of Opar; King Kong; Flash Gordon and the Menance of Mongo; The Mark of Zorro; and our large pulp game will be The Case of the Adventurous Aviatrix. |

Where are the G'ould and SG1? This thing sounded like a blast!!! |

Phil says: "Those Jax Garrison boys sure set a pretty table, though. Martha Stewart would be proud. Unfortunately, nobody that I play with down here has that pathological love of all things pulp as those guys do." Why don't you send me a pic of your pulp submarine, Phil, and some of Steve's paint jobs on all thsoe "Pulp Figures" ????? Tell me when you want to try a pulp game and I'll be their, and I can bring some of our gamers as well????

I didn't play in the game but I did see it close up in person and I can tell you the pics do this terrain NO justice. This stuff was simply fantastic! I had the opportunity to talk with the GM's as they were setting up the table and fondle the terrain. If I wasn't running my own colonial game at the same time I'd of played that. Everyone looked as if they were having a blast, making noise and wearing funny hats. These guys all ways put on great games, weather it's at an HMGS-South con in Orlando Florida or the Jacksonville garrisons own cons Rapier, in Jacksonville Florida. If your a PULP player you gotta go to one of these cons and play in their games. Check out the sites: hmgs-south.com jacksonvillegarrison.com Way to go Jax gamers. Cheers, Jeff |

The game was great. I was the RCMP (Chip, I swear they were Mounties, they all had a Canadian accent, eh?) The only problem I see with your game is everybody is gonna want to play next spring at Recon. (I got dibs on Sgt Preston of the Mounties, please, please) As Jeff said, the pictures, while great, don't do the terrain justice. Chip (aka the other Chip) Hausman |

Alex Great Site! I am going to use some of your ideas on a long off game I am looking at "Night at the British Museum" Set in the 20s 0r 30s on a Friday the 13th with a full moon. I think there was one in 1926 or so. VR James Mattes |
