Picked up the hunter set and a booster pack. The painting isn't too bad, and the poses look nice. They also had the Warthog box, but didn't want to brave the wife-units wrath just yet. 9.99 for the 4 figure blister, 24.99 for the hunter set (and the warthog set.) For those who just can't wait til tomorrow (guilty.) |

Too bad there's no Targets around me. Oh sure, there's one in New Jersey, but for me to go there would actually entail going to New Jersey

A "Pennsyltuckian" dissing NJ?!?!? WHAT is the world coming too? |

Everyone is free to come to NJ. But don't spend all your money on toys because we do charge to leave NJ. |

Heck you guys charge just to drive around there. |

I want a Warthog box--picked up a couple of the Hunter packs and some of the boosters at the local Target, but it wasn't supposed to have them out yet (according to the other 2 Targets I visited looking for that elusive Warthog)! Rob |

Saw one starter pack and 4 Warthogs left on an almost empty Halo 3 display at my local Target. $25 USD each. Figures look OK, I'd definitely repaint them. The Warthog looks cool, but not $25 USD cool. If I could get it for $10-12, yeah I'd buy that. |
| GypsyComet | 18 Sep 2007 10:36 p.m. PST |
Does it help to know that the Warthog isn't attached to the base? It sits in a pair of wheel ruts on a dirt mound that is part of the base, but the Warthog itself is a seperate piece. Oh, and the wheels rotate AND turn
Yes, my credit card is still smoking

No sign of Halo clix up here in the great northern unwashed landmass we call Canada. ARGH!!! Must have MasterChief! |

As a follow up, I picked up a 10 booster brick. Of the three boxes that I "had" to open at lunch, all three contained 4 spartans each, with 1 "other" figure. If this ratio keeps up, the Covenant and the Flood have no chance in my games
. |
TheMackster | 19 Sep 2007 10:29 a.m. PST |
HHmmm? I could see maybe 3-4 marines in abox but 3-4 Spartans? I thought they were 'rarer' elite forces, LOL. Wonder where the marines and fleet personel are hiding? |
| Browser | 19 Sep 2007 10:30 a.m. PST |
Not in the boxes, according to my evidence. Maybe they're off with the flood and the rest of the covenant. |
| Farstar | 19 Sep 2007 11:36 a.m. PST |
I've opened six boosters of the Target type so far. While Spartan armor is a clear majority, I've seen one Flood and a handful of Covenant forces, as well as a single Marine and four of the Boys in Black (acronym escapes me at the moment). The Target style boosters have only four figures in them, by the way, with one of them always being a Spartan that you can see ahead of time. |
| Farstar | 19 Sep 2007 12:21 p.m. PST |
The huge number of Spartan suits has to do with the rather PvP/FPS approach to the game, by the way. Under certain circumstances a model can switch weapons, but it has to be a weapon that you have "in reserve" (as in, "have a mini for") and can't raise the cost of the figure unless an "upgrade" token has been earned for that model. Thus the incredible number and variety of Spartan suits with different weapons. Oh yes, lost models can "respawn" as well. Hmmph. If I wanted to play Frag, I'd play Frag. |
| Browser | 19 Sep 2007 12:35 p.m. PST |
Well, after a quick trip to open the rest, I can definately say I am equipped for every possible Spartan variant. Out of the 10 boxes, one had two spartans, three had three spartans, and six had 4. I got a grand total of 2 Covenant grunts, and two total flood models (one marine, one swarm.) Looks like it's going to be after-market for me to build up the opposing forces
or I play a variant of Frag. My first, and now probably last, foray into the blind CMG front. |

Get the Missile Launcher? He's a rare, and I expect will be in high demand

TheMackster | 19 Sep 2007 12:59 p.m. PST |
I'll probably rip open a brick myself on Friday for store singles. I'll let you know how the collation went and maybe I'll be able to just trade you Covenant for more Spartans I'm sure the kids will prefer. PM'ing you too so I know you got my message. :-) |

I have four 4-packs I picked up at GameStop (and a Hunter PAck at Target); I didn't pull any super-rares, but I did get a good assortment of good guys and covenant. I am happy with what I pulled (except that I have three brute jump-pack guys with spike rifles). I am holding out for some 5-packs at a FLGS, but I have "L" FLGS, so I hope to find some at a couple of shops I will pass by on a business trip tomorrow. Are all 5-packs games store exclusives? |

Hmm. My Target did not have any Halo Clix and I was looking to pick up a Warthog. So very disappointed I came home with only what I was sent out to get- Liquid Plumber and Huggies. |
| GypsyComet | 19 Sep 2007 10:18 p.m. PST |
They aren't in the toy section. There is an endcap display near the game systems with Mountain Dew Game Fuel and the HaloClix. Having now seen the standard boosters (and opened a few) I can say they seem to have a broader variety, a high incidence of Master Chiefs and super-rares, and are five-packs instead of the four-packs-with-extra-kidproofing sold at Target. |

Thanks GypsyComet. I'll be heading back over this morning. |

I got the 'Exclusive Target Warthog' today (via ebay purchase tues)
and I have to honestly say it 'rocks'! (don't ask what I paid for it w/ON shipping! as no targets for miles and miles and miles..).. But, is a NICE piece of plastic, driver and gunner WITH CHAIN GUN! (take THAT you Covenant SLIMEBALLS!!!)
veh can be taken off base, but driver and gunner 'glued in'
(don't think driver has legs below knees anyway!!!)..but SUPPOSEDLY game stores will be getting the 'battle damaged version'
don't know if it comes with crew or not
Will have to 'mod' some extra Spartans for 'drivers' after I get my 'case' next week when the 5-fig boosters/cases hit my local comic shop
(I pre-ordered!) OH FYI, on my 'HUNTER/STarter set
NON-TARGET version
it said that it had two turrets, etc
just like the TARGET boxes said, but it didn't have any extras/differences either
so only 'benefit' was TARGET got theirs out Sunday? my local comic shop Wednesday. (and if you bought them early on ebay and paid more because you THOUGHT you were getting 'more'
you didn't!) Wizkids basically said on forums
'oops, misprint, hope you'll forgive us
also no dice in some sets as stated and only 1 turret in hunter boxes'
no offer to do anything else to 'make up' for it
*sigh* But I AM excited about the WARTHOG and also on the side of the Warthog box it says 'Watch for more figures coming in 2008'
Well, we know the Banshee will be
but what else? Still, that Warthog is an impressive piece of work, wheels turn, swivel
in FULL size it'd make one HECK of a real ATV!!! (going deer-hunting with chain gun??? YEEE-HAAAAWWW, we're having 'minced deerburgers!!!' or grizzly or mountain lion or
.' Just kidding
but it'd be fun to drive that beastie!!! *slish
slish*
. Sgt DWW-me and Fred the groundhog are strapping in and heading out to kick some Covenant backsides!!! |
| Goldwyrm | 20 Sep 2007 8:10 a.m. PST |
I found them this morning exactly where GypsyComet said they'd be. Sadly no Warthogs at all. The kneeling guys in the hunter packs *almost* look like they'd fit in SST, but the standing figures are too tall. The stock person said they only received a partial order and get in new stuff daily so I must check back again tomorrow. DWW- I'm looking to use the Warthog as an SST MI vehicle. How easy do you think it is to remove the existing 40mm crew? Does the vehicle itself scale for Starship Troopers or similar heroic 28 styles if I can convert in a new driver and gunner?? |

Glad you at least found the display. I wandered the local's toy section and came up empty, then had the "wait, isn't this a promotion tied to Halo 3?" moment and wandered over to electronics. And there they were. I don't know if they showed up Sunday or Wednesday, but I'd consider re-checking on Monday, maybe sooner. Restocks at least through the 25th (game's release day) should be expected, and I'm hearing that Target got a month lead on the Warthog, so *in theory* they should get restocks for that period. |
