Wondering if those who visit this board can assisit me. IN the mid 80s I visited my local library and found a relatively new book on the TYW. Large format, hard-cover, rather thick "coffee-table" kind-of-book with numerous water-colour illustrations of soldiers, formations, camp dispositions, weapons and artillary, and fortifications. I also recall many illustrations where the promiment colours were those of the HR Empire (yellow, red and white and black stripes on fortress gates and artillary carriages, etc. Regretably, I never did pursue this period as a collector of miniatures but am interested in doing so now. Granted the information I've provided is pretty obscure. However, if anyone knows what this book is and where I can find it I would greatly appreciate it. Many thanks! Beeker |

I think your book is "European Weapons & Warfare 1618-1648" by Eduard Wagner published by Octopus Books Limited, London, 1979. I got mine over 110 years ago and I know not where. Check E-bay and Amazon. The illustrations are great but mostly early war, 1618-32. Great stuff on the nuts and bolts of mounting and moving artillery and engineering tasks. |

A fantastic book, but not cheap – the best price on bookfinder.com is £89.25! |

£89.25! That's about 8 times what I bought it for in the 80s. |

I feel older than dirt but I'm not. It is a fantastic book and 89.25 lbs is a fantastic price. |

Yes – I got mine off the shelf the other day to see what I'd paid for it (£9.95) as I'd seen it recently for £95! Quite a mark-up in a little under 30 years. It's still a great book – someone ought to reprint it. |

I got mine off of Amazon recently for $60, but it took a couple months for one to appear at that price, so be patient. Rich |
