Smokey Roan | 23 Aug 2007 5:15 p.m. PST |
I assume 10mm! Its 3.5 inches, so one of you who is "wise in the ways of scale" chime in! :) |
Mardaddy | 23 Aug 2007 5:15 p.m. PST |
Yep, got it. It's cool and all, but nothing I can really use
you want it? |
Smokey Roan | 23 Aug 2007 5:17 p.m. PST |
I don't. Was getting Godzilla stuff for my Monster island, but saw it, and figured y'all would like it! (Smokey likes to give as much as he recieves from this site :) ) |

You bad man. Just cost me $10 USD plus shipping. 3.5" is rather long for 10mm. I'm buying it to see how it scales with 15-18mm. |
Goldwyrm | 23 Aug 2007 5:25 p.m. PST |
Just checked and my credit card is about 3.5" |
Smokey Roan | 23 Aug 2007 5:29 p.m. PST |
Yeah, just did some figuring, and compared to my Halcyon 1/72 model. Its about 15mm, I think! Well, thats %10 that Clawmark owes me based on my finders fee arrangement :) :) :) JUST KIDDING!! |

I use the old Galoob APC's close to Leading Edge's 25mm one. They were $20. USD Just have to get some approriate sized landers. My Galoob ones only hold the Micromachines APC. |

This APC actually has a scale problem. I scratch-built mine after the scene in the cargo bay where you can see Marines standing next to it. Then a length of 3,5 inches (which is the length of my APC) about makes it 20mm scale. See link The scenes where people are walking about upright INSIDE the APC are consequently impossible of course. So I picked the size that would fit on the ramp of my 20mm dropship ;o) |

I used to have three of them and they look best with 15mm such as GZG, Laserburn and Peter Pig. I had got them to go with the QRF Aliens Colonial Marines but the figures (the marines anyway) seemed a little too big. They are very nice models though and the main guns can be glued into the pre-drop stowage position. Tasty. Must try and find some more. As for 10mm, it will depend on how hefty your bases are. Realistically, 10mm marines would be more comfortable inside than 15s. NO WAY would these work with 20mm! |

Let's see, various sources put the APC at about 8.5 meters long with the turret in the upright position. That's roughly 28 feet, so a 3.5-inch model works out to roughly 1/100, or pretty close to 15mm. Which gibes with what others have posted. I've ordered from Clawmark many times. They've never disappointed me yet. |

Yes the scale of the vehicle is never right. In the movie they used a aircraft towing vehicle built up for the driving scenes but iside it was bigger than a M 113. Something for 28mm would be rather big. If someone made a towing vehicle for 1/48 scale you could probably kit bash one. |

Verlinden used to do 1/48 modern US carrier aircraft tow vehicles, but they weren't cheap, and they're even pricier now. |

Are these much bigger than the Micro Machine ones? I have a couple of those and a dropship I use with my QRF figs. Thanks, John |

Keep us posted Goldwyrm.-B6 Yes I will. I have some 15mm reference figures that I can take a picture next to. |

Any body got a line on these anytime recently? They would make perfect pre-heresy crusade-era enemies for my Adeptus Titanicus forces. |

Khurasan has some ~28mm 'Exterminator APCs'. They're a scale-up of his 15mm model, which is pretty big. According to the old Colonial Marines tech manual, the APC is 8.58m long, 3.38m wide, and 2.17m tall not counting the turret. Wheels are 158.75cm tall, ground clearance at rest is 21.59cm. |

That is pretty big. I'm basically looking for 6mm. Do you think they would work? |
