Okay, not exactly true, but just about. I was at a friends house the other day and he had a copy of White Dwarf. I had a flick though it and was as bored as ever with what used to be a good magazine.

However! One piece did leap out at me. The next set of releases for LOTR are of the various human vassel states around Gondor, including the Woses of Druadan. From the pics in the mag, the figs look shorter than the other LOTR figs which makes them very short on 28mm figs. Added to their weapons of blow pipe and stone spears, these guys will make fantastic pygmy warriors!

Okay, I'd written a bit about a pic of them I'd found, but then chanced a look at the GW site and found them there so I'll just link to the far better picture that they show

They do have some potential, although their pointy ears may need some bobbing …

28mmMan27 Jul 2007 8:44 a.m. PST

These have potential. Lots of conversion direction with these little dudes.

First GW figues I've really liked in A long time. I think that may well be my next large painting slot when I've finnished my Grym.

Dropzonetoe Fezian27 Jul 2007 9:05 a.m. PST

I am liking those a lot.

Dewbakuk27 Jul 2007 9:15 a.m. PST

Not a bad price either, I'll definately be picking some up, although I have no idea where they'll turn up yet.

Commodore Wells27 Jul 2007 9:30 a.m. PST

Painted with an inhuman skin colour they'd make nice Venusian primatives for Victorian si-fi.

Commodore Wells27 Jul 2007 9:32 a.m. PST

… or primatives from the Hollow Earth

Cacique Caribe27 Jul 2007 9:56 a.m. PST

OOOOOOOOooooooo, I like those!!! Thanks Dewbakuk!

That is a decent price for GW metals. I had not heard there was going to be a big box of them.

Warbeads27 Jul 2007 1:19 p.m. PST

Yeah, I had expected a much higher price too, mweaver.

Beowulf Fezian27 Jul 2007 1:30 p.m. PST

Don't say that! GW will raise the prices as soon as they hear soimebody considers it reasonable!

jpattern227 Jul 2007 2:05 p.m. PST

I knew CC would like those.

:)

Paintbeast27 Jul 2007 2:32 p.m. PST

Very nice indeed!

Lowtardog27 Jul 2007 4:06 p.m. PST

They look a little like Mayans!

Mysterioso27 Jul 2007 4:10 p.m. PST

How much smaller are these guys than standard 28mm figures?

Farstar27 Jul 2007 4:13 p.m. PST

Those are 25mm diameter bases, so these guys look to be about 20 to 22mm to the eyes.

Cacique Caribe27 Jul 2007 5:31 p.m. PST

Anyone know how tall these Mithril "Druedain" ("Wose") figures are?

I've got the mithril figures, CC, I'll go measure. But they are too tall to be 28mm pygmies.

OK, I'm back. They are 25mm sole to eye, 27.5mm sole to crown.

cloudcaptain27 Jul 2007 7:48 p.m. PST

These would work well for "Sword and Planet" games.

D A THB27 Jul 2007 9:13 p.m. PST

Are they plastic figures ?

Dewbakuk28 Jul 2007 6:40 a.m. PST

Metal. Yeah, I thought CC would like these too grin

Cacique Caribe28 Jul 2007 12:36 p.m. PST

Must have'em. I must, must, must have'em.

Cacique Caribe31 Aug 2007 2:22 p.m. PST

Has anyone seen them in the flesh since this thread was first started?

Any first-hand reviews?

Thanks.

Ok. My wife says that the box with the wildmen has arrived.

I'll have to wait until I get home to see them in person (or I may be able to persuade my wife to bring them with her when she comes to visit me).

I think it's hard to go past the humourous Kallistra Pigmies.

Cacique Caribe10 Nov 2007 9:40 p.m. PST

Anyone need a box of them GW Wildmen of Druadan?

RocketToad10 Nov 2007 11:25 p.m. PST

These GW Wild Men of the Woses are cartoony and the poses are awkward and static.
They are also way too big to be Pigmies.
I can get better cartoon style Pigmies from Kallistra and a much better deal than GW's retail price.
Nope, don't like those models.
