Gun carriage coloUrs as follows
France – deep red,
Russia – brick red,
Austria – ochre,
Saxony – black,
Prussia – mid blue,
Bavaria – grey,
Wurttemberg – natural wood,
Hanover – red,
Hesse-Kassell – grey or blue,
Brunswick – grey or red,
Sweden – sea blue,
Denmark – red,
United Provinces – dark blue,
Britain – bluey grey. |

Didn't the British have red at this time, with blue-grey turning up later in the 18th C? |

The Morier Painting shows dark wood, which is probably one of the hardwoods like oak or ash after it has been finished in an oil, like linseed or tounge oil. |

The Spanish Bourbon guns were red with black ironwork. I don't know about the Habsburgs'. |
