link Does that site pretty much cover all there is for people interested in 28mm-30mm pirates? Or, are there other ranges not included, that you might suggest? Thanks. CC |

Yes, those. I reviewed them here a few weeks ago. Disclaimer: Jo sent me a LOT to review. I like them. |

I sorry if this seem like spam, but we at TAG have a large number of 17th Ottoman Turks which well be used for "alternative" pirates. The Ottomans were big into boats and patrolled the med. and further afield at the same time as the traditional pirates were buckling there swash around the Spanish main. link Just an idea. |

The Black Cat stuff is new and the Frother showcase pre-dates it. I doubt that the Pirate Showcase missed anything that was around when it was compiled. Are there any other new Pirates? Black Cat, a few new OG, and the TAG stuff that Pete quite correctly points out in his spam make excellent pirates (for my PotC campaign anyway. And some of those TAG renaissance figs make great "Empire" troops too.) |

If we arwe ging to bring in Barbary and/or Ottoman Pirates, then check out the RSM SYW Turks and Old Glory Turks. Also, Eureka has a lineof "Algerian Pirates". |

I guess Chinese Pirates should be included, too. Eureka? |

Just found (from TMP, from where else could it be?) a reference to Black Scorpion Miniatures Pirates on the Little Shop of Magic site. |

At least three companies have brought out small lines of pirates since the Frothers guide was put together. Unfortunately, the only one of the three I can remember off the top of my head is Artizan Designs, which offers three different three figure packs. In addition, several other companies produce figures of some use for pirate scenarios, like the Hasslefree barmaid and barkeeper. Grelber |

I am currently painting up my Old Glory pirates. There pack of Pirate Captains are some of the best figures they have ever done IMHO. |

Yes, a lot of the showcases are very out-of-date these days, which is a shame. |

>"Black Scorpion Miniatures Pirates " D'oh! I bought one at Salute! Yes, they're new too. Large compared to my Foundry but great sculpts. |

Its a real shame that not everyone is prepared to put in the same level of commitment as you Colonel I agree. :-| |
| zz9resident | 10 Jul 2007 4:46 a.m. PST |
Yeah, lazy frothers. They're all useless these days. I remember when all the showcases were up-to-date and you could buy pirates for thrupence ha'penny a dozen. |

Tossers! both of ya, get back where you belong. ;-) |

When TAG start making proper pirates then you can come onto this thread and start telling me what to do. Frothers has a committee, they are clearly responsible for the poor quality of their Showcases and of the people who hang around on their Forum these days. |

Can't talk for the others, but as for the showcases I did (which include the pirate one), I simply haven't got the free time atm to keep them all up to date. I try with the WW2 ones and started on an overhaul and expansion of the Norse ones. Pirates will be next, but one thing at the time. :) WK |

White Knight, for Pirates, one has to wait anyway until the "Pirates of the Caribbean" -inspirated wave calms down. |

What about the Shadowforge (currently 3) very interesting characters -really Monte-Cristan agents picture picture picture - in their ‘off-topic' Laughing Monkrange: hopefully to be expanded. I maintain a list of such female fighter in tricorn here: link If you know of relevant 26 – 30 mm minis I don't list, please inform me! JL |

Currently spotted no less than 10 ranges of 15-28mm minis that include female pirates (and also male ones, of course): link Yes, that's the link -it's just that the idea of fighting women by Lace Wars times is so 'odd' that I posted it between 'Cosmos 1745' and 'Castle Falkenstein 1745'! If you know other, please mention them here – thanks in advance. Jean-Louis |
