Yes, it is a pretty layout, with what looks to be paper terrain. |
13blackravens | 15 Jun 2007 10:27 a.m. PST |
The scenery is Worldworks. You know the paper terrain stuff. So its a ruse me thinks |
cloudcaptain | 15 Jun 2007 11:09 a.m. PST |
Had they read the novel "Xombies" they would have changed the name anyhow
they wouldn't want to be associated. |
Stoelzels Structures | 15 Jun 2007 3:02 p.m. PST |
Cloud – hadn't heard of the novel, but they might have been riffing off the comic and flash cartoon. xombified.com 13blackraven – I found it strange the way the description centered so much on the terrain, you might be right, wouldn't be surprised if there was no such game anywhere. |

Indeed. "We're not associated with WW, our game entry is only one big advertisement for their product" I must say that it looks good though. |
Smokey Roan | 15 Jun 2007 3:29 p.m. PST |
Its no "Shenanigans", I happen to have been on World Works Games forum when that Boardgame Geeks listing was brought to their attention. WWG's Owner then responded to some errors in that entry, and added that they were not associasted with the game. Methinks that the rules are planned for publication, hence their unavailability at this time. I am not associated with WWG, except as a very satisfied customer and due to their customer service and helpful forums, I consider them freinds. |

Awesome layout! I like the umbrella

Hmm, upon actually reading the article, and not just looking at the pretty pictures, my impression of it goes like this, "We didn't make the terrain, WWG did, please don't sue us, we plan to make terrain of this quality and sell it, but it'll be resin, not paper, because WWG makes this nice paper terrain. You don't like it? That's okay, WWG made it, ours will be better, and made of painted resin, not paper. Do you like the minis? Ours will be painted metal, not paper, they'll look like these, but they'll be metal, when we make them that is. There'll be some rules too, they don't exist yet, but when they do, you'll llove them, they're not for sale yet because they don't exist, they'll be printed on paper, not metal, which is what the minis will be made of, when we make them, and you'll love them." A combined publicity effort to create hype and simultaneously avoid litigation. :) I'm sure it'll be wonderful. |

@Squirmy
I think you nailed that one! I'm a big fan of zombie gaming, and when I heard of a "new" entry in the tabletop zombie genre I was there in a flash. But I was left with exactly the same impression. Subtract the hype and you have no game, no terrain, no minis. Some great shots of WWG terrain and that's it. I'm a huge fan of WWG and I have just about everything they've ever produced, and I'm sure they had nothing to do with that BGG entry. As for XA
I don't get the point. I was irritated by the entry, and in fact, don't believe it deserves an entry on BGG. It's not a game. I was under the impression that BGG was for actual games. Out of print, still in print, makes no difference. But actual stuff. Can I just use BGG as a website, so I can upload piccys of my home-grown games with my buddys? I would hope not. If you want to check out an actual zombie game, look at Zombie Plague. It's free, and the files are on BGG. Rules, pieces, playing board. Has a semi-active yahoo group to go with it, where even more (tons more actually) material is available for free download. Steve |

Worldworks rocks and is run by great people. I swear by Urban Mayhem. Practically every zombie game I've seen pictured usually has Worldworks in it somewhere. I have no opinion on Xombies Attack since there are no rules to preview. |
Renevent | 15 Jun 2007 7:55 p.m. PST |
Hmm they are gonna have to change the name
the "Xombie" franchise has moved from "just" a free flash animation to a novel, and an on-going comic series. Anyone who likes the zombie genre should check it out
. BTW "Xombie" refers to not only the main hero, but an as-yet unexplained type of intelligent zombie. The flash is awesome, post-apoc zombie wasteland, with small fortified pockets of humans

I don't know if the games published or not
but, what an impressive display of the potential of carefully crafted paper terrain and figs. |

"Has a semi-active yahoo group to go with it, where even more (tons more actually) material is available for free download." Well Steve, its not "Semi-Active" 'cause of us!! As far as I know, you and I post more regularly than about anyone! So, "Screw You Guys, I'm watching Team America!" :) :) :) |

Last Night on Earth looks quite interesting. They are local (well, to me anyway) and I've asked to be emailed if they host any local demos I will certainly post my impression osf this game when/if I get a chance to play it. |

Isn't Xombie a palladium books copyrighted word

Smokey Roan | 18 Jun 2007 4:41 a.m. PST |
Seattle Gamer, did you ever find out the scakle/size of their zombies? |
Deathwing | 18 Jun 2007 12:39 p.m. PST |
I'll second Smokey on that question. Please let them be near 28mm! |
Smokey Roan | 18 Jun 2007 1:25 p.m. PST |
Looks like their made of that plastic like Zombies!!! If they are in 28mm, the conversion potential is great. "Dr, Smokey" reporting for surgery! |
SeattleGamer | 18 Jun 2007 2:25 p.m. PST |
I did not Smokey, but I just asked again. Maybe the figures shown in those piccys were "placeholders" they used for the demo, but not the actual figures they were planning to provide, so they don't know the scale yet. Still, it's been a bit since I pestered them, so I asked again. There was another line of plastic, one-piece zombies in 28mm that were in the works last year. There would have been 15 poses, and they were to sell in a 45-figure pack as a horde. But they hit a snag, and I've not heard about them since. Plastic zombies (especially hard-plastic) would be killer for conversions. |
Smokey Roan | 19 Jun 2007 8:19 a.m. PST |
If Twilight Creations only did a recast of their zombies to 25-28mm, THAT would be grfeat bas well. I am picking up their 1/64 scale guys for about $6 USD a pack, and have a sizeable (but alas, unused) horde of zombies and 1/64 humans and vehicles that are no good for gaming, just for looking at (thats from "Josie Wales" :) ) |
RabidFox | 01 Jul 2007 1:03 a.m. PST |
Seattle Gamer. I hope they do not plan to manufacture at least some of the minis I saw including the last pic with the gangsters. Why? Because those all are Graham Bottley's work over at Arion Games. The gangsters and the scientist are from Arion Games' Pulp figure set. Some of the zombies might be from Arion Games' Year of the Zombie sets as well. It is bad enough they are showing off so much of World Works Games' terrain, but to add Arion Games' paper figures on top of that. Shameful!! |
