Took a few preview pics of some of the terrain for my star Wars TROOPS on Patrol game at Origins – there were still a few slots open on Saturday if anyone is interested!

Some excellent stuff there! I was looking at making a TROOPS/IMPS style game myself – but not on such a grand scale.

Where did you get the ship in the partially finished Docking Bay? Is that a model or scratchbuilt?

That looks like the old Kenner Star Wars Rebel Transport. IIRC, the pod on the top turned to unlock the lid, which was the top half of the ship.

Where the heck did you get the speeders and the storm trooper transport??

Man those look great! :)

The transport is an old Rebel Transport Carrying Case from Kenner, with a few mods.

The speeders are a mix of Action Fleet, Action Fleet kitbashes (the XP-38 and the modified "Lars Family Speeder"), and Big Miller Bro made the alternate Hutts and the Stormtrooper Transport (it is a styrene homemade model). There are also a few Old Crow minis (the Imperial Parcel Service truck and the two "pickups" in the background)

Is the Millenium Falcon the Kenner version too?

Also, how about those Swoops? There's quite a variety that I can't quite identify the sources for.

Nice! Looks like quite a setup and some good games. What is "TROOPS / IMPS"?

The Falcon from last year's Hoth game is a modified Kenner/Hasbro one – I chopped down the landing gear and modded them so that the ship was at the right height for 28mm figs, then replaced the quad guns with ones from the model (they were WAY too big). It is getting a new paint job for this year by the good folks at GF9, so it should look much better this time around.

The swoops are mixed – there are a couple of straight swoops from the WOC figs, a BARC speeder, a jet bike from the IndyClix Invincibles set, and one from another WizKids Heroclix set. The last one is from the old Ral Partha Space Knights range. I used an O scale set of Harley bikers as the bodies for several of the swoop gang, modded with alien heads etc.

Troops was one of the first modern Star Wars fanfilms – Kevin Rubio (who later wrote the Tag and Bink comics for Dark Horse)produced it back in the 90's. It is basically "Cops" meets "star Wars".

The game at Origins will be run on a 400-500 square foot table setup, and will have 10 players. 5 will play squads of Stormtroopers from the Mos Eisley Spaceport Police detachment, 5 will play the fringers in Mos Eisley. Each turn, a troops player draws a random crime card, and has the option of responding to that call. regardless of if that player responds, a fringe player gets the card and a n associated squad. The fringe side gets point if they pull of the crime, the Troops side gets points for stopping them.

One catch – the Troops side has embedded CNN (that's Coruscant News Network) reporters filming it for holo broadcast – so the Troops players only get full points for crimes stopped or solved ON FILM.

Troops link , still one of the best fan films out there.

I got a little further on the Docking Bay model and added a couple of pics – now it just needs a little more detailing (a few graffiti "tags", a couple of market stalls outside, some accessories in the bay) and it'll be good to go.

Imperial Military Personnel Stories

impstherelentless.com/tek9.asp

Originally this project was to be the sequel to "Troops" but over the course of writing and production, it evolved into something entirely different. "Troops2" was the working title of the production until the script was completed, and the project assembled. Chapter 1 of IMPS, "The Rail-Runners – Davenport Gateway" acts as a bridge to take us from the ‘COPS' format to the soldiers of the many branches of the Imperial military.

If you like Troops – IMPS will blow you away! Only the first 20 minute or so chapter is available for download so far. That includes the video, stills, music, scripts, production art and storyboards. Chapter two is a long time coming, but it will be well worth the wait I'm sure.
