This question has probablybeen asked before and a hundred times but hey I am asking it again. I have been looking to start a pirateminiatures game for a while and am soon starting up a rpg too. I am looking at 28mm minis, I have been looking at a few I live in the uk so I been mainly sticking with foundry, old glory and dixon minis. But I really want some nice looking pirate ships and I carnt find any. Oh and I mean cheap ones, well cheapish. I have seen old glory and their nice but a 50 quid a pop for a brigante and I would need a few as well. Just wondering If anyone new of any others. I live in the UK so UK places would be great. P.S. I have seen the mega bloks ships theres a few from piratesto vikings, they look a bit big but nice if convervted as they have bobly bits on where the figures go. |

Flagship games has some: flagshipgames.com And the OG ship is only $76 USD if you order from the US. If you can find some one in the US with the OG army card it is 40% off of that which is like 25 quid or so. Shipping will be more, of course but it is still a good price. |

best (i.e. cheapest) would be to make 'em.. see the Foundry site for Gary Chalk's 28mm pirate ship template.. Enjoy.. |

You can also check out Shifting Lands in Europe link More of a fantasy take on the pirate ship but it's a beautiful piece and goes together nicely. I used it for the interior photos in Under the Black Flag. Rich |

Tommahawk, One thing to keep in my when considering Pirate ships is that the Old Glory ships come with all the guns, mast fittings and dowels for masts so you don't need to buy them separately. If you want to buy in the UK check with Andy at Old Glory UK. Teresa |

The instructions on Foundry's site let you make a nice 28mm ship (and ship's boat). I have one complete and one awaiting detailing and painting. Cost next to nothing in money, but quite a lot of your time

there's always this: link link (If cardstock is acceptable),though to do it justice may take almost as long as scratchbuilding one. |

I found a bunch at a local discount store for about $10. USD They are fully masted replicas of ships (Mayflower, Cutty Sark, etc.) They are slightly small for 28mm and the ships aren't 100% historical pirate ships, but the overall effect with the full rigging is better than anything I've seen, plus they're cheap. |

yeah i was looking at plastic model kits, but there were roughtly 20mm not 25mm. however i thought if i removed alot of the stuff that clutters the deck there wud be enough room for models and a bit of conversion wud make it look nice. thought about napoleonic period.but havent seen many |

try the outpost wargames services brigantine (pictures under Conquistadors), it will need some extra detailing and probably a bowsprite, but was specifically built for 28mm minis and well within your price tag. |

I just ordered some cool items from J.C. Penny online store. google jc penny and then search their site for pirate and you will find a radio controlled pirate ship and supreme playset dueling bucaneers. the RC ship was 39 dollars (reduced from 99 dollars) and the playset (which includes 2 plastic ships and dock set) was 29 dollars(reduced from 39 dollars). I will report back on how they work with 28mm pirates. I also ordered some rowboat home accessories from hobby lobby online store and those should work well as smaller sloops. Will report back once those come in. (I saw them on the lone star historical miniaures club website painted up and they look great). From the measurements provided, they should work out pretty well. |

OK
.I bought the MegaBlocks Black Pearl. Before you laugh or call me crazy
.the scale is just about right for 28mm, (compared to photos of humans in relation to the Black Pearl of the movie). She actually does resemble a French Galleon of circa 1635. At $29.00 USD from Amazon, it seemed an OK price. The Dreml tool will be active grinding off the nibs. But at the end of the day, I will have a large vessel with multiple decks that can be disassembled, complete with everything (including sails) except for good cannon for the main deck and second gun deck. I'll post when finished. |

I agree with terrain sherlock & Pyruse. I knocked up a couple of the old gary chalk ships and they came out alright. First one took a couple of weeks, but once I had done that the second one only took a week (couple hours an evening), start to finish. I did make one little modification to the original design and that was to lengthen the main deck. Here picture & picture |

I received the JC penny ships and the Hobby Lobby ships. They will all work great with 28mm pirates. The JC penny ship also floats and is radio controlled. It does not have a flat bottom but does come with a vacuformed plastic stand from the box it was packed in. I plan to paint the stand blue and white to appear as waves passing. It should work out ok. I am actually going to use the two JC penny ships as British Frigates as part of the govt. force in my little imaginary pirate world. The Dueling Buccaners playsets I bought have two ships each. One is a skeleton themed one, which works out great because I have a whole skeleton crew led by Captain Jack Marrow (groan
sorry, bad puns are my thing baby- as austin powers would say). The other ship is going to be used as a merchant vessel. so with the two playsets I have two skeleton ships (one will be made up for my ghost/zombie pirates and the other for my skeleton pirates) and two merchant ships (for pirates to plunder, bring into port and sell it off or use for their own fleet). The Hobby Lobby ships (I bought 6 of them at 5 dollars each) will be used for the human pirate crews. they will be easily modified for variety sake and fit in well with other ships mentioned above. So my little pirate world consists of 6 human pirate crews with ships, 1 skeleton pirate crew with ship, 1 ghost/zombie pirate crew with ship, 2 merchant ships with crews and 2 government ships with crew and marines. |

I am thinking of running a pirate ship game in a pool figure I need six to eight ships with two groups looking to fight it out. Cheap is good but Old Glory at 40% off is not bad either. VR James Mattes Now to find some simple rules to use. VR James Mattes |

The Ainsty vessels are superb as well. They are a re-release of the very popular, Dixon vessels. |
