The website is gone, though the old URL is still valid. (Another of their URL's is in the hands of a cybersquatter, and a third has expired.) |

Who is running the CMoN store at this point? It was a branch (and one of the better handled branches at that) of New Wave at one time. |
mweaver | 15 May 2007 10:03 a.m. PST |
I always had great service from CMoN. Not so true of New Wave (ordered from them before discovering TMP). |
Jay Arnold | 15 May 2007 10:05 a.m. PST |
Awww, maaaaannnn. I was going to order from them today, too! |
Farstar | 15 May 2007 10:08 a.m. PST |
As did I the one time I ordered from CMoN. I gather that "New Wave" was a bit of an umbrella "organization" (though that might be too strong a term) that included several outlets, CMoN among them. The quality of each outlet was generally independent of the others. The order handler for CMoN was truly on top of it, while the folks operating under the actual New Wave name were another matter. |

Good riddance if they are gone! |

Well that gets rid of about 6-8 rants a year. |
ttauri | 15 May 2007 11:40 a.m. PST |
Haven't seen a New Wave rip-off thread for a long time. Have they just changed their name to better protect the guilty? |
javelin98 | 15 May 2007 12:23 p.m. PST |
I thought they went out of business last year? |
mweaver | 15 May 2007 12:33 p.m. PST |
It has been a long time since a thread, so maybe the site did go inactive earlier and nobody noticed. |
DontFearDareaper | 15 May 2007 1:30 p.m. PST |
Tick enough people off and eventually you go out of business. |
Lolbat | 15 May 2007 1:44 p.m. PST |
Eventually in this case being what? Three or four years? |
NightskyWildfire | 15 May 2007 1:45 p.m. PST |
Since this one isn't on the obituaries board
can I disrespectfully on their grave? |
beowulfdahunter | 15 May 2007 1:55 p.m. PST |
I think New Wave changed their name to The Drop Zone |

"I think New Wave changed their name to The Drop Zone" On what basis? Timing of appearance? Quality of service? Affiliations? |
Ravenseye | 15 May 2007 5:43 p.m. PST |
hmmm
I think, from all the things I've read, that I was the only person ever to get a completed order, on time, by New Wave. Ah well. -Mike |

They sold off a lot of their lines last year at a big discount – they had severely violated me on a previous order but I got a tiny bit of revenge by placing an order for a bunch of stuff Warzone, Fenryl, Shadowforge, etc. at a huge discount – and I was amazed that I got it all, pretty quickly too!!!! After that, good riddance, glad they are gone. |

I truly hope he went out of business. My first two orders were fine but my last order well, it wasn't. I'll stop now before I push into rant territory. |

"I think New Wave changed their name to The Drop Zone" Yikes! |

Having been acquainted with a few folks close to New Wave, I can safely say that New Wave closed its doors and is no longer in business. All remaining inventory was sold on the site or via Ebay. It did not become "The Drop Zone" or continue under a new name. The original company had several parts, as stated above, some of which worked better than others. The few remaining entities from under the umbrella seem to be working much harder at keeping customers happy and have come a long way from the past soiled reputation. I think a lot of us got burned at one time or another by them (I live in the same town, so it was easier to eventually get my situation corrected) and few will miss them. Seems like its time to just let this one go . . . . |

I dealt with them only once and have no legitimate complaints
but I counted myself lucky and didn't test my luck a second time. |

The market used to be so good a few years ago it tolerated anything but now only the smartest and best dealers can survive. Bad dealers beware, this market will not tolerate you. Remember the corny department store slogan Value-Quality-Service |

A few years ago i used to see them at conventions in the Georgia area. I have not seen them at any during the past year or two. |

I thought that they died 2 or 3 years ago. rolling eyes

My guess is that bad press and bad word of mouth killed them off. What I did buy from them was handled as competently as the industry average. If they had bothered to fix the 0.5%, and not blatantly stolen when they had to fill a back order, they would still be in business today. The weird thing is that about 6 months after my order in which they ignored my backorder, they actually emailed me to see if they could fix everything. Well, yes they could, by either shipping me what I ordered, or refunding my money. Last I heard from them. |
Penchour | 11 Jun 2007 12:16 a.m. PST |
they did the same with me 2 years after several mails (and a BBB procedure). I was contacted by someone pretending they were to refund me (they even had the correct due amount noted somewhere
noticing how evilk they are ! They screw you knowingly, like having a comptability dedicated to this
). 2 more years later, I'm still waiting ! I won't shed a tear on the corpse of those thieves. |

About 1982 I think, with New Romantic and Synth Pop, and 2 Tone
. |

haha Benjaminw1.. on topic I was glad my dealings with New Wave were largely benign. They only backordered my once but made good in a timely fashion. I think I was dealing with them before they really became corrupt(1999/2000 timeframe). |
Landorl | 15 Jun 2007 4:35 a.m. PST |
Boy was I lucky!!! I ordered twice from them several years ago and got my orders without problems. Once I heard about the issues that people were having here, I decided that I didn't want to risk it again, so yes, bad publicity kept me (an otherwise happy customer) away! |
