CC, This site attempts to be family friendly. Should you really be showing your Big Worm to just anyone? 8^) Actually, it looks really cool and I like the attention to detail. |

With your topic title it took some personal courage on my part to click on that link. Whew! OK, it is a sculpt in progress. It looks very good, and with the additional mouth parts clears up the first photos. It looked a bit like doggie poo on a CD early on. (no offense) Much more like a big scary worm, now. Do you plan on adding some rubble or disturbed earth around the worm? That may add to the illusion of a just-emerging critter. Nice work, Dan. You have inspired me to try something I've been thinking about! |

"Doggie poo"? "Doggie poo"? Actually, that's what my wife thought too! CC |

Looks good. Best looking BIG worm I've seen so far. |

Nice sculpt CC. I also took the time to look at your other pics. Very nice indeed. Who makes the sabre tooth tiger figures? |

Thanks! "Who makes the sabre tooth tiger figures?" One if from Reaper, the other two are from Pulp Figures. link link link CC |

The beak is looking good and I like the scale you're making it too. Your next one :) should be the beak head part erupting from the earth and I think the fake doggie doo comments would drop

Nicd job CC. I tried to make a silicoid type alien using cat litter and putty. All I came up with was something that looked like I had scooped it out of our cat's litter box. No talent here. Al |

Keep the pics coming. Truly a ground-breaking effort CC (get it?). |

That's very cool CC! I'm too lazy to go the whole hog though and will be quite happy with my Purple Worm conversion when it gets finished (after my coursework backlog is fixed). Are you going to do the lower jaws as well or are they still under ground? |

It's disgusting, but so is the monster it is based on.

Lower jaws and neck are definitely next. I want the body section and the neck/head section to be separate. That way I can use the neck/head section by itself if I want to (as when bursting up from the ground, or even when crashing through a basement wall). CC |

Looking pretty darn good so far! :) |

Not too bad so far, Dan. The "emerging from the ground" effect needs a touch more work, possibly by building up random clods and fragments around the margins of the beast, or maybe the odd divot of turf on the upper surface would look good. Are you going for the trilateral jaws as per the inspiration, or more a beak effect? To be honest, that beak looks damn fine, rather like a burrowing snake's head in shape and gives it an originality, but a pair of horizontal secondary mandibles for the whole masticating business would look good too. Keep us informed of the rest of the job, and well done so far! |

Covert Walrus, Yesterday and today, I've been slowly working on the three-part lower sections of the beak. As in the movie, my goal is to have a 4-part beak. I've also added a few "bony" projections on the body of the worm. I'll post updated photos soon. Thanks for the wonderful suggestions. Keep them coming. CC |
