For me, the best part is Michael Gross is really Anti-Gun

"For me, the best part is Michael Gross is really Anti-Gun
" LOL. I didn't know that! That makes it even funnier, considering his character in the film: picture CC |

Burt Gummer is my personal hero. "I am completely out of ammo
that's never happened to me before." "What kind of supreme being would condone such irony?" Burt would make a heckuva figure. RAFM, I'm looking at you

Burt & Heather Gummer figures would rock! |

I just love the last line on that clip: Burt Gummer: "Guess you broke into the wrong rec room, didn't ya!" CC |

"Tremors" is one of my favorite monster movies of all time, and the sequels and TV series aren't bad, either. Michael Gross is not just anti-gun, he's also very pro-environment. I remember an episode of one of those execrable "practical joke" shows back in the 80s – might have been "TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes". The producers placed a fake California Condor nest and eggs in the middle of Mr. Gross's driveway, then told him he couldn't use the driveway, mow his lawn, or do anything else to disturb the nest until the eggs hatched and the chicks flew the coop. He was actually happy that the birds had "chosen" his driveway. He asked if there was anything else he could do to guarantee the eggs would hatch, and he was genuinely heartbroken when they revealed the prank. What a nice guy! |

I'm liking him more and more mainly because, though he has completely different views to that of his Tremors character, he plays a very convincing role. CC |

The first time I saw TREMORS I didn't even realize that Burt was played by Michael Gross. And I watched Family Ties all the time! What a great, fun movie! |

One of the "missing links" to the Tremors movies is an old episode of The Outer Limits called "Invisible Enemy". Those characters needed to stay up on the rocks, too. |

SciFi Gamer, thanks for that, I'll have to track it down, just for completeness' sake. link |

Oh, and it's an Outer Limits episode, not Twilight ZOne. |

Adam West? picture I must get it: link Photo of the creature cruising on the sands: picture picture Cheesy creature effects, but good gaming possibilities! All that is missing is some good near future astronauts, though my Pig Iron infantry might actually work for this. picture CC |

The Tremors' Graboids would make more sense, though, since I would not expect such a creature to have eyes, or to have obsolete eyes (even if similar real creatures do have functional eyes). It would be like smaller versions of Dune's "Sandworms" which, in turn, are more like these earthling creatures (which do have eyes): picture picture link These have degenerated eyes: link link picture CC |

To ya'll gun experts . . . So, if someone made a 28mm equivalent of Burt and Heather Gummer, what sort of guns/rifles would the figures need to have? CC |
Detailed Casting Products | 08 May 2007 12:00 p.m. PST |
CC, that answer is obvious. "All of them". |
jpattern2 | 08 May 2007 12:07 p.m. PST |
Remember, Burt decided to go with stopping power over rate of fire, so any big elephant gun or hand-cannon would be appropriate. Maybe an antitank rifle or a .50 sniper rifle, minus the scope. I think I'd go with some kind of grenade launcher; maybe an over-and-under combination of some sort. |
Detailed Casting Products | 08 May 2007 12:11 p.m. PST |
OK CC, I'll be serious. "elephant gun", giving tribute to the first movie. |

Nice photo of Burt and Heather in action: picture link This poor guy was definitely having a bad day (scroll down): link CC PS. By the way, whatever happened to the Heather Gummer character in the sequels? Even if Reba couldn't/wouldn't do the sequel, the Heather character was awesome. |

"PS. By the way, whatever happened to the Heather Gummer character in the sequels? Even if Reba couldn't/wouldn't do the sequel, the Heather character was awesome." Oh well . . . This teeny tiny little line on this article is all I could find on that: "Burt's wife has left him, and the call snaps him out of a deep aimless depression." link CC |
The Gonk | 09 May 2007 5:36 a.m. PST |
Burt used a double barrel elephant gun of some type in the first movie, but any figure of him would need have to have the Grizzly Big Boar. It's the .50 cal rifle he used in 2 and 3. link |
