Mencia?

Macaroni30 Mar 2007 12:05 a.m. PST

This guy sounds like his head is too big for his body.

Maybe he's gone mad and we should send the boys in white coats around.

Metal Storm had an entry and was deleted at some time or other, but im not bothered either way, if your gear is good the word will get round and it will slowly get known, its hardly the cutting edge of information, its not worth getting uperty about. I treat Wikipedia as a sort of information thesaurus.

That would be Carlos Mencina, one of the most un-PC and funny as hell comedians out there right now.

And LD does indeed deserve the dee-duh-dee award.

Streitax30 Mar 2007 6:40 a.m. PST

I'm reminded of the protagonist in South Park's Warcraft send up. Does this guy have a life? I mean he seems to spend every waking hour forming Wikipedia in his own image.

Re: Mencia

It's easy to be funny when you steal other comedians' material. Joe Rogan (stand up, host of Fear Factor) has a substantial portion of his blog devoted to outing Carlos Mencia (nee Ned Arnel Mencía) and his plagiarism.

Maybe Larry is trying to be a giant name in wargaming…by deleting all reference to everyone else.

Just think, after he deletes all references to GW he can call it "the Larry Dunn Hobby!" :)

I think Larry Dunn is going to have a name synonymous with something, but it sure isnt going to be wargaming…

nazrat30 Mar 2007 11:43 a.m. PST

So has anybody figured out if the Larry Dunn here on TMP is the same one who is being such a know-it-all pest on Wikipedia? You'd think if he wasn't he would have posted on one of these threads and said so.

Canuck730 Mar 2007 1:23 p.m. PST

I am not sure if Larry Dunn of TMP is Larry Dunn of Wikipedia, but whoever he is (the TMP one), he has a lot of stifles right now…

After reading some more of this stuff and especially what Richard has posted about his communications with Larry Dunn, I agree that Dunn is behaving like a horse molester. I know he's not one really, but he's BEHAVING like one and is also behaving like an idiot, behaving like some know-it-all with a pickle stuffed up his nether regions and behaving like a generally not nice person. I would never invite someone who is behaving this way to my table…

Conrad30 Mar 2007 2:38 p.m. PST

I for one hope Larry continues in his own sweet way for ages and ages, as this is the funniest thread I've read for a long time.

However, I'm still unsure what the acronym "TW@T" means. "Twit Weeing @ Trousers" mayhap?

Goldwyrm30 Mar 2007 2:54 p.m. PST

Conrad, I prefer the literal translation.

I agree with Ray. Let's see the rules section updated. That would be wonderful.

Thanks,

I have been reading with interest all of the threads on Mr Dunn, and I have come to some conclusions.

Arrogant, self centred people with huge self confidence issues rarely look at things which would show them in a bad light and require them to discover the truth about themselves.

The reason he has not engaged in any debate is blindingly obvious. He has very little confidence in his own opinions, hence no debate or explanation ("He who shows the least interest has the most power in any relationship" premise) and prefers to remain cloaked in his "fortress of solitude" merely in order to reinforce his own inflated opinion of himself and his ideas. In a public forum, like this, or better yet, the scrum of a University or other higher centre of education, his opinions and lack of defence would be rightly exposed as biased, prejudiced, unbalanced, egocentric and parochial. He has an almost adolescent predelection for "tit for tat" and retreating into a simple silence when confronted with his illogical arguments.

All the insults just reinforce his own idea of his inate superiority to the average wargamer, and serve to convince him not to respond, as that would seem to him to be lowering himself to your level.

More to be pitied actually, than scorned.

Does anyone actually use wikipedia to get names of popular rules?

GeoffQRF31 Mar 2007 9:37 a.m. PST

No, but Google will pull up Wikipedia entries quite highly

vojvoda01 Apr 2007 1:04 p.m. PST

Are we Dunn yet?

Ok I had to waist about an hour finding out what all the fuss was. Now I still have very little idea. But why stop at that where are the pitch forks and tar and feathers? I say we all track down everyone in the hobby by that name and hang em high. Gosh I would hate to have that name and come to TMP in the next year or so…

I`ve followed this thread (and the other ones too) I find it bizarre that someone (un-apointed) can control what information is available on a free resource.

Is it his site or are there other "officers" who you can aproach with complaints??

I have to be honest I`ve often found when doing research that the info in Wikpedia has been cut/pasted from other sites (or vise versa) and therefore there little new material.

Last Hussar01 Apr 2007 3:16 p.m. PST

Perhaps he is related to the guy that whined at too much 'British content' on Wiki. The guy had a problem with 'Colour' and 'Armour' being spelt correctly. He objected to any reference to anything not popular in the US. Perhaps because RFCM is a Brit thing he doesn't like them.

Last Hussar05 Apr 2007 3:38 p.m. PST

I married one, but she's less dirty than she used to be :(

I read a Homepage for the Larry Dunn who was in the reformed Earth Wind and Fire'- If it's the same guy I can only assume he was 'Wind'
