Hmm … first attempt to post, heavens knows what happened but what got posted was not from me (hence the delete) or even anything I was reading.

Second attempt lost the first half of the post. Here's the missing half (last attempt) …

Just found this thread.

"Its now EU law, Resale Price Maintenance"

Yes. Which has been illegal in the UK for a long while. Until relatively recently it was permitted on new books (ironically, to protect the little bookstores) but that has now been gone a while, hence the availability of discounts on 3 for 2, etc you see at Waterstones.

The way many wholesalers and distributors control this is to require proof that a retailer actually have a retail store. Sometimes they want a picture of the storefront. Sometimes they are satisfied with a business address for deliveries. (If the address is zoned residential, they won't accept it.)

GW is not alone in this. This is done by many manufacturers and distributors.

*shrug* I think it will simply wind up being a nice case of Capitalist Darwinism.. GW will go and throw its 'weight' around, while at the same time bawling and fussing that its sales are dropping like a lead albatross. If they don't smarten up and play nice with the other kids, they'll be forced to leave the sandbox.

Somehow I have no problem at all ordering bits from Battlewagon Bits? Or have I missed something.
