"What's up with EBAY?" Topic

Not sure how many trade on Ebay, but for those who do, have you noticed the change they made in February, and I'd be curious to know how many have been impacted, both positive and negative.

If you list on Ebay/UK or Ebay.com (US/Canadian) your auctions are not seen by the other site. The sites are distinctive now, but with selecting 'advanced search', visibility it realized. The drawback is a searcher has to know that.

I'm in Texas and for years about 50+% of my customers were international. For over a month now my sales plunged. And I noticed the lisings were small. I had no clue that anyone who did not use ebay.com now could not see my listings. And I don't see ebay/uk without the advanced search feature. With the low value $US now, I was very surprised that I wasn't getting any sales.

I asked Ebay live chat why ebay/UK could not see US/Canadian listings and vice versa. Got blown off and conveniently disconnected twice. One of the Bombay staff told me he'd be suspended if I pursued the dialogue with him.

Seems Ebay made the split to accomodate regional markets. But if your international, as our hobby certainly is, any listing you make is confined to the region. To find it now requires an advanced search. Real pain in the neck.

I'm in Canada and use Ebay.ca . I have no problem seeing auctions from the US or UK as long as the seller lists them as worldwide. If they are only listed for US or UK then they don't show up, and I assume that the seller doesn't want international sales.

Well I never like price increases but some features for sellers are better. It is now easier to switch items from auction to buy it now, when they have special rates .

We just listed some JR Miniature 25mm terrain which we are no longer carrying that scale at the store. We are also reducing the amount of 15mm as well and have 20 such terrain auction ready to posr.

Another area that we will reduce our stoock level is 15mm Old Glory since the membership program has reduced convention sales. We will make a number of DBA armies out of the remaining stock. Then we will list the remainers in lots of 150 production count castings of similar eras.

Another area that we frequently list is books but the sales rate is so poor that we only list them when they have special 'set rates' days.

In other words we use ebay to adjust our stock levels and eliminate discontinued ranges. With limited goals and not trying to make a living at ebay, I am happy with the auction website.

I have recently sold some FoW figures on ebay.uk and have had buyers from UK, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy and USA, so no problems so far for me.

I tend to search eBay UK anyway, since there's a greater likelihood that UK sellers will have things that interest me than US sellers will.

I search both US and UK. Sometimes I see something interesting on the one that isn't in the other but there is a lot of duplication.

The only thing distinctive is the categories.

The articles only show up, if it's the same category number on two different countries' eBays.
Even a search within a category won't reveal these items, if the category is not the same.

You'd have to search all of eBay, to stand a chance of them showing, but eBay's search results quality changes on a daily basis, even if only searching for articles of your native country.

This guy from Germany here for example, put his article into UK eBay. He did not put it into Germany's eBay, because the RPG categories are not identical, and they wouldn't show up outside of Germany.

But things have been like that for a long time, it's nothing new, really.
