I don't have much hope, as we are dealing the the SciFi Channel here, but I thought I would share this upcoming movie set during the final years of WWII: link link imdb.com/title/tt0969322 CC |

It's got Joe Penny! How can it be bad. :-) One of my many goals in life is to one day develop projects for Sci Fi Channel Pictures. Rich |

Hey! I thought it looked pretty good in the trailer
..gives the air gamers one more thing to worry about on their table tops! |

Gabriel, I think it might be another "roll-eyes" SciFi Channel film but, as you point out, it might actually have some gaming potential. CC |

Didn't Turtledove or someone write a series of books like this with mythological creatures fighting during WWII or something? |

What's the big deal? Everyone knows that the Nazis were responsible for creating monsters like werewolves, zombies, gargoyles and hot tight leather-wearing, whip-wielding dominatrixes. |

I have my DVR already set and am actually looking forward to seeing it. I usually hate SciFi channel movies, but am willing to hold judgment until I see it
DM I really hope I am not in tears afterwards

No more historicaly innacurate than most WWII movies. |

DM, LOL. I might be in tears too. I set my DVR too. Misery love company, I guess. :) CC |
Rattrap1 | 23 Mar 2007 10:33 a.m. PST |
See, I expect them to be bad. So if that happens, I'm not upset. I just sit there and enjoy the ride. Now, if they happen to turn out good, then I'm surprised and get to feel good about it. Never any disappointment. :-) |

I prefer the term realist. :-) But I love bad sci fi/fantasy/horror movies (Barbarian Queen, Troma's War, etc.). I was doing the whole MST3K thing like most people long before it was on. In high school a friend and I would rent a couple of bad movies, order a couple of pizzas, and spend an afternoon making fun of the stuff. |

Oh yeah, that's on my 'must see' list. Right up there with "Grindhouse" imdb.com/title/tt0462322 . Any movie with a trailer called "Werewolf Women of the S.S." has got to be worth paying for. :) |

I thought being bad was the whole point to the Saturday night Sci-Fi creature features. I'm actually disappointed when they're merely mediocre. This one appears to have Nazis – that's usually a good indicator for laugh out loud badness, (almost as good as dinosaurs.) |
Greyalexis | 23 Mar 2007 2:24 p.m. PST |
So how will flames of war start using them? |
Mobius | 23 Mar 2007 3:37 p.m. PST |
Another one of these huh? OK, let me tell you about the small Allied group. Odds will be there will be. 1 American city guy. 1 American country guy. 1 British guy 1 Black guy 1 gal 1 wierd or techie guy of some sort. 1 Foreign (non US or UK) guy. All on the same aircrew. ..Hollywood formula.. |

I am looking forward to this! Being not much of a fan of the disaster movies (lost me when CGI replaced scale models), the last 2 weeks of my bad-sci-fi-saturday night have been a drag. They need to pull out that gargoyle movie from the late 70's/early 80's set in the SW. |

I am actually watching Gargoyles now. It is bad, even by SciFi standards! They have even figured out how to recycle monsters and whole scenes from Grendel. On the plus side, they do have some good CGI of B17 and JU88's. |
Rudysnelson | 24 Mar 2007 8:07 p.m. PST |
Very weak. A private ordering a major . Airborne Colonel in charge of B-17s. Air Corps wearing infantry brass. Major in back of the truck and shooting at targets in front of the truck. Very poor show. |

Void Trekker | 24 Mar 2007 8:34 p.m. PST |
I tried to find it on youtube. Nothing matches. This can be an indication of an extremely bad movie, but I still think it would be fun to watch. |

A wonderfully bad crapfest! |
RabidFox | 24 Mar 2007 11:59 p.m. PST |
It wasn't that bad guys. It also wasn't that good either. Joe Penny? Yuck! Should have had Billy Zane from "The Phantom" as the Colonel. Same basic look, but a much better actor. That would have raised the movie up a great deal. Plus, they needed a better German actor for the SS Colonel. At least Doomtrooper at Corin Nemec from SG1 as the staring American soldier. I really do not and never did like Joe Penny and I have not been impressed with anything Wes Ramsey has acted in. Plus, who in the world was that heroine? Has any one seen that actress before? The surviving British commando, the major, whose beret flash actually identifies him as an SAS trooper, was played by a decent actor. Who was it? Well, it was not high cinema, but I did not flinch too badly while watching it. I guess I just am able to suspend belief better than many for a two hour duration. |
Kaoschallenged | 25 Mar 2007 12:30 a.m. PST |
LOL The British Airborne officer was also wearing US Major insignina om his collar . The "Jeep" on the airfield was a Soviet "Gaz". One of the flyers called the 8th Air Force a division. Also none of the enlisted men were wearing any Chrevrons. The female heroine had a Mosin Nagant rifle. Even the armbands on the SS were wrong. They had the short arms like the Finns used. There were quite a few inaccuracies. Other then that it was ok for a B- movie. Robert |
Top Gun Ace | 25 Mar 2007 2:05 a.m. PST |
At least there was an attempt at a storyline, and I found it to be much more entertaining than Doomtrooper. Then again, I just like gargoyles, since they look cool
.. One of my favorite unreal parts was near the end of the story, when the American guarding the truck changes weapons, from a MG, which I assume has jammed. The Germans are standing within spitting distance, and hold their fire for a few seconds (5+?) while he picks up a MP-40 from the back of the truck and then proceeds to shoot them dead. They are in the same frame as the guy is, at close range, and just stand there waiting to be shot. Of course, jousting with the head gargoyle, with a He-111, and a hand-held spear was a bit over the top too. The least the guy could have done was stick it through the plexiglass nosecone, before ramming the flying creature in mid-air. Seems like they could use a stunt coreographer. |

I laughed pretty hard in the WWII Sci Fi channel Gargoyles movie. I finally determined that it was a comedy when they shot down an ME-109 with a mortar. The B-17 interiors were waaay too roomy. I've been in a B-17 and they are a tight fit, not much room. The dorsal turret looked like you could put a love seat in there. The Ball Turret interior appeared to already have an overstuffed chair in it. Far to much diameter in their B-17. The flight gear didn't fit. There leader helmets were made of some sort of platic, and the officer's dress hats didn't look right. The brims were fabric. The briefing colonel always had the same map with arrows no matter what mission. Oh yeah, when they shot down the Me-109 with a mortar, they did it inside a cave. Funny stuff. |
Striker | 25 Mar 2007 7:02 a.m. PST |
It wasn't too bad for a sci-fi movie, must have been big monster night. I'll say it, anything with nazis, the occult, and monsters is something I'm watching. I did catch part of Cerebus too but fell asleep, not bored but tired from working 3rd on Friday night. I need to think about building a ruined castle for a pulp game. |
Mobius | 25 Mar 2007 7:21 a.m. PST |
Anyone notice a pattern to these Sci-Fi-war movies? Nazis create/provoke creature. It runs amok killing Nazis and Allied troops alike. Send in Allied 1. ground forces. 2. Air forces. So what will the next one have? Its got to be sea forces. Nazi U-boat is taken over by something. Send in a combined US, UK, other nationalities in an Allied sub to fight
what? Vampires? Sharks? Some sort of CGI sea monster? Vampire sharks? |

CORNEL WILDE' s gargolye movie was a much better effort, and would make a very nice game for rhe table top using your choice of rules. wayback when, i popped this oto my friends using 40K:RT rules (modified), and everyone had a good time ruining their drawers ( i set it in the OLD WEST the first time, then used it again in a modern setting). i particularly liked the rasping buzz the gargoyles sounded off with when they built up to and then went into attack mode. . .

I watched for the first 20 minutes. Exterior views of the bomber switched back and forth between Fortress and Liberator. I gave up when I heard the SS officer's bad accent. Later, I heard my kids (12 and 13 years old) howling with laughter. They told me about the mortar shooting down the plane. |

I liked it, but two parts stand out as the worst. The shootind down of the plane with the mortar
Best mortar shot ever!!! And the jousting with the plane and the gargoyle. Other than that, it wasn't too bad. |
