This machine is VERY intriguing to me:

But, to be honest, I really don't want to get into that sort of stuff (time, money, etc.). Nevertheless, I am VERY interested in some short run plastic components and was wondering if someone out there has one of these machines (or another one like it) and might be interested in discussing the issues in producing a few hundred figures/components.

If that person is you, please send me a PM or contact me at mmitchell [at] hawgleg [dot] com.

I had a machine in that general direction only bigger. My issue was the time it took the plastic to melt. For some parts it was several minutes wait. I went four different iterations of molds before I got the basic principles figured out. I would consifer a silicone/rtv type mold with epoxy resin and many pieces at a time. Just put 10 parts per mold and in ten modlings you'll have 100 parts.

Here is a link to the company that makes a machine I had. link

If it were me, I think I would save up for a spincaster for short runs of minis.
