Having spent far more time than any relatively sane wargamer should do trying to create decent looking – and practical -cornfields for my ACW battlefield I think I have finally cracked it with this wonderful Model railway product! Strips of plastic plants than can be cut and twisted before dotting in the individual corn cobs in yellow. Mine are hex based and the centre section lifts out for placing a unit inside the field. Hope this is useful tip for others. Couple of photos but you can see how it works in my short 7 minute video should you care to do so.

Really looks good. Hard to find this in US.

Printed something like it on the printer for 1/144 scale. Just placed bases on a paper base so you can move bases around to fit models in as required. Twisted them a bit to add a bit of variation.
