So recently we have been working on terrain. It is clear that in the past we have been very timid in our use of terrain. We decided to have a bit more credibility so incorporated most of our terrain definitions in 1 plausible battlefield.
We realized we had not really done this before as we had some terrain types missing. To that end we produced new:-
Maize markers
3D printed Flat hex to overlay the standard hex to define poor going.
Two different base layers for the woods defining Minor difficulty wide tree spacing wood (the lighter colour on the Right of the picture) and Major Difficulty woods narrow tree
spacing (the darker base).
Scrub it has be around for a bit but is our fist attempt at scrub markers the small shapes to the left of the main road. Any better suggestions, this marker I don't consider my best work.
This is a picture of the battle in progress with light forces (Brits vs French in the early 1980's). There are a few white markers as it's mid week and I have pinched a few infantry bases as they had yet to be flocked at the start of the game and left a marker to remind me where to replace them.
Was it worth it? Yes adding the different terrain types especially with the differing mobility standards between the Brits and French added lots of tactical interest.
