Have been doing some work on Davout's Corp in Russia which has raised some questions. What are the uniforms of the Officers, Standard Bearers and Drummers of the 8th Rhindbund (Micklenburg-Strelitz) Battalion? Thanking you in advance for any information. |

That link is to the uniforms worn during the Befrieungskrieg in 1813 and 1814. See response to other post: TMP link And the word for the size of Davout's formation is spelled Corps. Jim |

Be careful of Henri Boisselier planches in this case because, from Rawkin' CD: "AUTHOR'S NOTE ON THE H BOISSELIER PRINTS I have chosen to include some of the prints by the normally reliable Henri Boisselier even though the accuracy of the Mecklenburg depictions is less than the artist's normal standard. The sources upon which Boisselier's paintings are based are the miniature soldiers from the Fritz Kieffer collection which are somewhat dubious on several points. (4) The strange shako plate has no substance in reality although it may be based on the starburst plate worn on the picklehaub helmet later in the 19th Century (5) The musician's uniformrock was not piped at the edges until the 1830s." Here are the Histofig plates:
The Mecklenburg Regiment comprised 2 battalions from the Schwerin forces (1st & 2nd) and one from Strelitz (3rd); together they formed the 7th Rheinbund-Regiment – not the 8th. The Schwerin battalions were transferred from 1st Corps to 9th Corps from 3 September 1812 & then to 3rd Corps on 4 November 1812 |

Digby-Smith's "Armies of 1812" page 63 says "The Mecklenburg-Strelitz battalion carried no flag." |
