My Mahdist War collection has not seen outside storage for several years so I decided it was time to re-vamp & then game.
I'd previously built 2 Nile steamers for or games but found I could add some improvements – nautical items such as life preservers etc, some added on bits to the boilers – various pipes & handles – a barge & some more crew.

These should add scenario possibilities.

I'm also thinking about using Black Powder rules in place of our modified The Men Who Would Be Kings set. Nothing really wrong with TMWWBKs but it's a little gim crack for bigger battles.

Great job! I made the Abbas in 15mm from what I could glean from some Khartoum movie clips here: wfhgs.com/gunboat3.html

There's also a quick blurb about Boilers & Breechloaders, which is a set of gunboat rules from TVAG which are pretty fun to play. Definitely at the skirmish scale so you might want to look into those for your gunboat battles.

I blush at the thought these 2 are in any way accurate models of the real thing. However, I thank you for kind words & I will look into those rules. I think an Arab dhow or 3, full of Mahdists, wouldn't be beyond even my limited skills.
