How lucky for the US that they didn't have foreign army with an unbeatable navy supporting the guerrillas and their national army, while at the same time fighting wars against a series of powerful coalitions.

With all due respect, guerilla warfare wasn't all that novel even in 1808 – however, against imperial armies with long memories, ruthless leaders and without external support, they were pretty much always crushed
