I wasn't able to relate the description to what the photographs show (not entirely aware what a "Tetris-block-shaped hole" ouight to look like). |

I'm fairly certain the "Tetris block" is the sideways, short T shape on the right of the picture. The long portion is where the wheel would have been. I'd like to know more about the mill, as it would require a source of running water— so either a significant stream ran through the castle, or there was some sort of reservoir above the wheel which provided the water or power on demand, and was filled gradually (either by nature or by human effort/mechanics) at other times, like a modern water tower. |

[X] [X][X] [X] Looks like an expensive discovery. Probably better to cover it up and not tell anybody.

I was so hoping it would be the castle of Guy de Loimbard, and they would finally find that elusive Holy Grail. But I guess they were meant with the usual taunts such as: "You don't frighten us, English pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottom, sons of a silly person. I blow my nose at you, so-called King, you and all your silly English k-nnnnniggets. Thpppppt! Thppt! Thppt!" 😔 Still a nice find. 🙂 |

@Parzival.` I wondered about the long slot but, like you, couldn't work out where the water source was. (Currently researching the old water mills in our parish so like a slothound on the trail…) |
