I think the more correct version is 'targeted'.

One Storm Shadow hit the pier alongside the landing ship, may or may not have damaged the ship. (Satellite photo might show it listing, or it just might be the angle of the shot.)

Forbes is also incorrect about whether it matters. One of these ships is a 'naval AWACS' which helps target Russian missiles.

In the same series of strikes, the Ukrainians also took out a Russian naval facility, supposedly their main land-based comms center for the Black Sea.

Forces is probably correct insofar as the importance of landing ships has diminished.

The intelligence ship is another matter, but the Russians probably have better land, air and space assets for supporting their current missile campaigns

My understanding is that the Ukraine would like to isolate the Crimean peninsula by removing the Kerch bridge and the landing ships. They already damaged the bridge once, and are no doubt planning to do so again in future – and in the meanwhile they are slowly attriting the Black Sea fleet landing ships (as well as other targets of opportunity).

Then there is the morale aspect – ships are large and prestigious targets that take time and resources to replace, so loss of each is a bit of an embarrassement, especially since the Black Sea fleet has not achieved much in response. And in the reverse, it is a bit of a morale boost for Ukrainians at the home front.

Also, it seems that the Black Sea fleet is still keeping assets in Sevastopol, despite it having been repeatedly shown to be quite vulnerable. The change of commander seems not to have had much effect.

Denis Davidov yesterday said only one landing ship had been damaged.

If nothing else the Ukrainians seem to be winning the naval war. Good for them!

Depends on how you define winning. Ukraine has little naval capacity of its own, besides these sea drones.

On the other hand, the Black Sea fleet has not been much of a practical threat for Ukraine for quite a while.
