The oldest known dugout canoe is the Pesse canoe from the Netherlands. About 2300 years older. It would be not too far-fetched to imagine dugouts were invented around 10K years ago.

The Pesse canoe is the oldest surviving one found to date, conditions in the Netherlands were good for preserving it this long.

The prehistoric island continent of Sahul was first settled by humans 45–60,000 years ago. Boats go wayyy back!
