Literally.
These are some old pre-painted Orcs. Not sure where they came from. I've recently rebased them.
But as I photographed them, I realized… where did all that dust come from?
And come to think of it, my last several minis have had some dust problems, but these Orcs were the worst.
So I blasted them again with canned air, but the dust was on there stubbornly. (I live in a wonderful Victorian home, but dust is often an issue.) I was sure the dust wasn't there when I sprayed them with the clear matte coat to seal the flock on the new bases. Was it an issue with the clear coat itself?
I took a soft cloth and gently tried to dislodge the dust fibers. That was an improvement, but some dust remained, so I very carefully rinsed the figures in running tap water, trying to keep the water away from the bases.
Much better.
I prefer to store miniatures in boxes with lids, to discourage dust. If I have them out for a long period of time, I'll throw a lightweight plastic dust cover over them.
It's nice to have these old figures refreshed and ready for another wargaming season!
