As I mentioned the other day, I'm looking into playing some games that use relatively small playing areas (much smaller than any terrain-boards I own), so I decided to make some 1' x 1' terrain tiles.
My original plan was just to flock the tiles with the same "flock mix" I've been using for the past fifteen years or so, but when I mentioned it on the forums, CPBelt suggested:
You might want to consider switching to Scenic Express flock, which is cheaper and better than Woodland Scenics. My favorite is Pasture Blend.

Something new in the world of flock? According to the website:
A New Generation of Scenic Foam Textures featuring a rich palette of fifty colors, textures and blends to satisfy the most discriminating modeler. Flock & Turf provides superior foam quality, permanent color durability and greater value.
I was skeptical. Sure, it might look good, but would it hold up to wargaming? But it looked worth a try, so I perused the listings, and finally settled on:

Scrub Grass Blend - Blended coarse foam and static flock textures. Ideal for wild and natural terrains.
So I placed the order for some flock - plus some recommended accessories...
