When I saw the call for a "scary"-themed Workbench article, I jumped right on it. After some preliminary emailing with Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian, I chose to paint a Giant Tomb Worm with Victim. I hadn't seen the figure before, and was pleased to discover it was a sculpt by Bob Murch. I own almost all of his Call of Cthulhu figures, so this project would be right up my alley.

Base with digger moved away

When I started to trial-assemble the figure for fit, I ran into some problems. The set is four pieces: base, worm, tombstone, and a gravedigger/Igor-type fella. The figure appears to fit into a little niche on the side of the base, but if he's put there, there's no room for the worm to face that direction.

Giant Tomb Worm - but no room for digger!

I considered making a larger scenic base, mounting the worm in such a way that it appeared to be lunging for the digger - but I got the feeling Bill wanted them separate for potential gaming purposes. I ended up deciding to keep them separate as supplied, with the worm bursting forward in the position which provided the most balance.
