When designing the Dwarf Army for our Demonworld painting project, my thinking was to keep the core of the army as "normal" Dwarven infantry units. Yet I didn't want the army to be too pedestrian (and boring).

In Demonworld, you pick one of two possible Dwarven realms when designing your army. If you pick Z'ahra, it is easier to recruit mechanical devices; if you pick Gaeta, you get easier access to more traditional Dwarven resources (giants, artillery, and the Orc Slayers unit). I decided to have a Gaeta Dwarven Army, which meant that I could recruit Hill Giants (medium-sized giants that come in groups of six) or Rock Giants (large giants which fight individually). I decided to spend the points to recruit one Rock Giant.

unpainted Rock Giant

A Rock Giant uses an uprooted tree for a weapon, or hurls boulders at its opponents. It wears a patchwork arrangement of bits of armor and fur.

While I was planning this Demonworld painting project, J. Ira Monroe of Bwana Art Studio wrote: "I would be very pleased to assist on a Workbench project."

Ira Monroe recently finished painting this Spartan warrior

Unfortunately, Ira thought he wouldn't be able to participate - since he doesn't work in any scale smaller than 25mm. He was "tickled" to hear about the Rock Giant - standing more than 5 cm tall, in a way, this figure is both 15mm scale and 54mm scale!
