Yes, the first quote was borrowed from Spartacus, and the second from Julius Caesar. Fitting tribute to the might of the Simian Empire. The size and character of these 100 Kingdoms models is truly inspiring. However, I get ahead of myself... an introduction is due:

My name is Michael Genet. I currently reside in Denton, Texas (USA). By day, I work in the IT-field. By night, I work as a commissioned painter for Reaper Miniatures. While I have dabbled in miniature painting since 1982, the majority of figures I've painted were completed over the last few years. Most have been historical, but my interest in display pieces was re-kindled this year.

Some of Michael's work

Yes, I suffer from figmentia, so you won't be surprised to hear that of the 7,500+ figures I have hidden in my house, probably only 1,500 or so are painted. As a result, I recently came to the conclusion that I needed a workbench that would survive the abuse necessary to complete my collection.

Michael's work space

I've probably got a few other miniature-related psychoses, but they haven't been named yet. I use any brand of paint I can readily get my hands on - which includes Reaper Pro-Paints, Vallejo, Delta Ceramcoat, Citadel, Coat D'arms, and Howard Hues.

As I believe in using the right tool for the job, I acquire brushes in the same manner that I acquire paints; any way that I can. I will use synthetic or sable depending on the quality level needed for the job, the time I've got to complete it, and the job's size.

More of Michael's work space

If you have seen any of my work before, it is most likely this years VIC (Visions in Color) entry, or some of my work that is displayed in Reaper's Painted Showcase.

If you are like me, you probably want to get straight to the "how I did it" section...
