After the last sequence, I gave the group a shot of Testors Dullcote, then went back and added gloss to various details - such as metals, shiny shoes, etc. I also tried to fix any last touch-up details I spotted or happened to remember.
The Waitress
The gore on the Waitress is a bit unsubtle, although I think it looks a bit better to the naked eye than close up under the camera. I decided that her left eye had been gouged out. I have no idea what that bit of tissue on her serving plate is, but I wouldn't eat it. I wound up being rather happy with the tile floor, which I had been afraid would turn out horrible.
The Butcher
I think the blood helps disguise the lumpiness of his knife pretty well. That long pink thing on his apron is a bit of stray intestine. His right eye appears to have been knocked out of his head partially, perhaps by whatever blow left that long cut in the side of his face. His right eye is still present, although the photo makes it look like I did a horrible job on the iris. (In fact, I did not paint irises, trying to indicate that their eyes were rolled up in their heads so you can only see the whites. I think it's an artifact of shadow from the lighting of the photo.) The particular structure of his jaw and the way the paint went on makes it look like something odd is going on there. In fact, his jaw is intact - his left cheek just sort of blends into his neck.
Loverboy
This sad individual has been poorly treated in his afterlife. Both of his eyes appear to have been gouged out at some point, he's been shot in the gut, shot in the right knee, and was apparently chewed on while still among the living, thus exposing his throat and his left wrist. His zombie life has been a bit more successful, and he's recently had quite a nice dinner of somebody....
The Sheriff
This former lawman has been nailed several times while dead, but does a good job of feeding himself with his left hand while still maintaining a death grip on his gun.
The Biker
I had initially attempted to provide details via decals on the Biker, but the decals I tried to use proved too thick (so I removed them). Instead, I painted a skull on his T-shirt (freehand), and made an attempt at an American flag on the back of his jacket. Some nice details include the zipper on his jacket and his wallet chain.
Group Shot
So, here they are. I had initially wanted to try to make a little diorama setting for them, inspired by the painting Nighthawks - to be re-titled Fleshhawks. However, this has proven to be a very draining semester for me, and I've barely been able to complete the paintjobs on these guys before Halloween.
