Here are two of the assembled models. I still need to remove the landing gear, fill the resulting holes, and then clean the models with soap and water.

Assembled Minis

After I cleaned and dried the models, I applied Rust-Oleum automotive gray primer (aerosol). The toothpick arrangement lets me handle the models during the painting process, allows me to get good paint coverage, and keeps me from painting myself.

Out of the picture frame is a block of foam. I stick the toothpick-mounted models into the foam when I'm finished painting.
Primer Applied
You'll also notice the alligator clips attached to wooden dowels. That's another homemade tool that I use to help hold models and minis while I'm painting them, or when I want to set the models aside (in the foam) when the paint is drying.
