Holy Roman Emperor Joseph III Fezian writes:

Now that our ground color is completely dry, it's time to finish painting the bases. I picked out the roots with a 50/50 mixture of Saddle Brown and Black. I built up a three-stage highlight on the roots by adding white to this mixture.

Roots painted and highlighted

I drybrushed the ground with Nutmeg Brown and Iraqi Sand. I kept the drybrushing light, so it wouldn't compete with the leaf litter.

All we have to do now is glue on the leaf litter. Apply full-thickness white glue to the areas that will have leaf litter.

Apply the glue

Now cover the bases liberally with your leaf litter.

I did this step on a paper towel so I could easily funnel the excess leaf litter back into its container.
Pile on the litter

Leave the litter piled on the bases for a while. After about an hour or so, the glue should be dry enough to shake off the excess leaf litter.
