The temptation with the hair on this model is to highlight each curl or lock of hair down its entire length. I think this would be a mistake. Looking at photos of dark hair, the highlights are clustered in specific places, and the hair is largely left dark. So I tried to get away from using the more tempting "sculptural light" effect, and use a more realistic placement of highlights only at the crest of the hair at the hairline, and a few key spots as it sweeps back over the elf's shoulder.
