As the contest came to a close, four of the contestants carefully packed up their Bat's and put them in the mail back to The Miniatures Page. The fifth contestant, BCantwell, was unable to complete the model by the deadline.

And then havoc struck! For when the finalists' Bat's arrived back at TMP, each had suffered a calamity of some sort...

The wreckage

The worst damage occurred to Lyondri's model. He packed the model well, but somehow the glue between the wing and glider body failed. The wing was not only separate, but was free to slide back-and-forth against the body, chipping some of the paint. The base also snapped off the model.

Also missing a wing was comicbkguy's model. In this case, the wing didn't slide during shipping, so there was no chipping damage.

Jana Wang's model kept its wing, but its base snapped off in transit (despite the pinning!).

Lastly, Cmdr G's model managed to arrive in one piece...except that he forgot to return the base.

So the next step was for the Editor to make repairs...
