Paint any hat showing underneath the fur or soft caps with a 1:1 mix of Vallejo Model Colour German Field Grey WWII and black. Highlight this with German Field Grey WWII, then add a 1:1 mix of German Field Grey WWII and Vallejo Panzer Aces White (German Winter Tank Crew) for the second highlight.
