I've played games of all types over the years, enough that I feel I have something to use as a basis for comparison but not so many that this won't be a new and fresh experience worth writing about. I've also written reviews from time to time (movies, books, products), so I have some idea of what's involved in covering the good points, bad points, and playability of a game.
Finally, my game group has a hard time accepting new games, and I want to see if Empires will be interesting enough to get a second game out of them.
Well, I've been doing a few dozen reviews (movies, DVDs, movies and the like, as well as a lot of articles and essays about gaming, music & literature) for several monthly publications I colaborate with here (in Mexico), and I'm a regular guy here who is quite involved in playtesting most of the games our fellow regulars put up in the fora.
I believe myself to be unbiased and not to try to forcefully equate any system to another more commercial or better-known one, when talking about its strong or weak points - as I do believe in talking about everything a game is and offers to the player. Comparisons are for mischiveous purposes only.
Besides, as my photo proves it, I've nothing to hide.
