Dread Pirate Garness continues:


The horns on the helmet were basecoated using GW Yellow Gold. They were then washed using GW brown ink, and highlighted using GW Yellow Gold (with white added to each successive highlight). The eye was painted black, with a small gold dot for the iris (for a fish-eye look).

Rider's final touches

The blanket was painted using Vallejo Prussian Blue, washed with Dark Prussian Blue and black, and highlighted with a Prussian Blue and white mix. The "S hooks" on the blanket were painted using the highlight color for the blanket, and were themselves highlighted with a small amount of white.

And there you have it. I found this figure a real pleasure to paint, and I had little difficulty trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I didn't think this guy was an Orc as he only has one eye, so I felt that painting him up as some sort of aquatic demon from a subterranean world with massive underground oceans was appropriate, as that fits in with the fluff.

I hope that you all like what I have done, and picked up something useful. I would like to apologize for so few pictures, but I figured I could use a proxy or two to help you see what I did. Thanks to all, and here's to moving on to the next round.
