Dread Pirate Garness writes:

Now on to the Big Stick

I choose again to keep things simple, and did all the plates and disks in Vallejo Model Color Brass. The shaft was basecoated in Scorched Brown, and the tassel was basecoated with Vallejo Black Red.

The Big Stick

The sword was painted with Vallejo Gunmetal.

The stick was then glued onto the figure, and the gold was washed with GW brown ink.

The details were then picked out with Vallejo Glorious Gold.

I suppose you are wondering why I use Brass as a base and then highlight with Glorious Gold. The reason is: I like the way brown ink shades the Brass. It gives it a bit of a reddish tint. When it is highlighted with Glorious Gold, the complement is just great and I like the end result.

The tassels were painted with Vallejo Napoleonic Red, and then highlighted with GW Blood Red.

The sword was then added and finished up. The blade was washed with Armor Wash, blue, green and chestnut inks, again to reflect real-life colors. The hilt was painted with GW Bestial Brown, and a woodgrain painted on using Apple Barrel Black for the year lines and Americana Honey for the highlights. The blade was then highlighted with Shining Silver.

The shoes were basecoated with GW Snakebite Leather, and highlighted with a mix of Snakebite Leather and Ceramcoat Pineapple. The ties on the shoes were based with Americana Raw Sienna and highlighted with Americana Toffee.
