So, my first two terrain tiles are done. How did they turn out?
The tiles fit well together, though I could clean up some of the flock "overhang" to get a tighter fit.
The scrub grass has coarse flocking material in it, so that makes it irregular in height. In the photo above, you can see the bases "riding" on the higher spots, giving them a "floating" appearance.
Whoops - another bald spot! The rust color I used as a primer might be a bit too red and too dark... but it was fast.
To my eyes, the terrain changes appearance depending on the lighting - under sunlight, it is lush and green; under artificial light, the browns show more.
At the right angles, you can still see a bit of a shine from the Matte Medium, where it has dried beneath the flocking. Not too much, though.
Neither of my flocking approaches looks much like the catalogue sample - perhaps I just haven't layered the flock on thick enough?
The Matte Medium seems to be doing it's job - I'm not seeing any loose flock so far.
Now here I've been able to photograph the terrain tile edge, to give you a better idea of the variability of the Scrub Glass Brend - but also note how much greener everything looks in stronger light.
The photo above is of the first tile that I flocked - it is still more heavily flocked than the second tile, even though I gave the second tile another dash of flock.
Well, that's two terrain tiles down, two more to go...
