Now that the Mechanoid army is completed, there is one problem…

Mechanoids

The army is too large for my standard storage boxes! I have boxes for 2", 3" and 4" heights – I could get the mechs in the 4" box, but the installation is almost 6" tall. And I would prefer to keep the army in one place.

Therefore, I've been to Dollar Tree and picked up a C.O.S. Clear Plastic Storage Bin with Clip-Lock Lid. The box measures 16" x 11" x 7", and sells for $3 USD.

Storage box

This is obviously a cheap box, the lid is flimsy, I wouldn't use it to contain heavy stuff or stack them very high, but the price is nice. The clip-locks rotate to lock or unlock, and come in white and gray.

Storage box

The box bottom is useful, as the bottom is relatively flat. (Some plastic containers have a prominent pucker in the middle; this one has three small puckers.) Note the bottom is recessed at the sides.

Storage box

Above, you can see the box, a can of spray adhesive, and a sheet of magnetic plastic (roughly 8" x 12"). The plan is to spray the magnetic sheet with the adhesive, and place it in the flat area of the box bottom.

Now the magnet sheet is attached to the box. It is not perfectly flat due to the dimples, but close enough.

The army fits!

Now the Mechanoids can be stored securely, and transported safely.
