The GW Dwarf Flesh had Americana Buttermilk added to it, and the flesh was highlighted again. I used a little GW Blood Red, and further highlighted.
In addition, I wanted to embellish on the leather straps, so I chose to put a simple round disk on the tips of each strap.
My method for getting a perfect circle is really simple. I dipped the end of my paintbrush in black paint and dabbed it on the spot. When I say end, I don't mean the end with the bristles - I mean I used the wooden end. Simple. And repeatable.
The flesh was highlighted one final time using pure Americana Buttermilk as the highlight color. It was only used on the most prominent parts, such as the knuckles, kneecaps and elbows. The mask was basedcoated using Vallejo Gunmetal, and the hair was done using Vallejo Brass.
The mask was washed with GW inks, including Armor Wash, blue ink, green ink, chestnut ink, purple ink and a little brown ink. All of these were thinned and painted in the shaded areas, rather than just slathering it on.
I have found that when shading metallics, using a series of colors (instead of just black) really does make a difference in the way it looks and how it reflects light. And by applying it in specific areas, the metallic can gain a fair amount of depth and take a more natural look.
The disks were touched with Vallejo Model Color Glorious Gold, and the mask was highlighted using Model Color Shining Silver.
