Painting Details

This step is the slowest, the finest, and the step that I like most. Painting details is what can change a miniature. I like writing things on the books, scrolls, and all the "antique" details that miniatures have.

What I've done in this case are some hand-written notes on the Senators' scrolls. It took me about 30 minutes for each one, but details are very important for these miniatures - since 75% of the surface is a robe, and it's very boring to see just 3/4 of the miniature all the same colour! After this, I made some drawings on the staff using grey paint.

This zoom shows you the scroll at full detail. The real scroll is only 1 cm tall!

Then, I flocked the figures with common modeling grass. After this, I inspected the miniature with great attention and corrected some badly painted details.

Finally, I apply some gloss varnish to the gem and to the eyes, to give them some shine. When the varnish is dry, I give the figures a Painter's Touch varnish coat, which is invisible and dull. The miniature is done.
